REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 24, 1975 <br />On the basis of the figia.res submitted, Monarch is the low <br />bidder at'$687.42 per week, as opposed to Swank Dry <br />Cleaners, Inca bid of $751.55 per week. <br />It is felt that more information is needed before a <br />recommendation to the Board may be transmitted. <br />1. Who bears the cost for replacement of garments <br />that are lost, wear out prior to the three-year <br />maturity date, or are in poor condition due to <br />the type of work conditions they are used under. <br />2. Who makes the final determination as to whether <br />a garment needs to be replaced. <br />3. Who absorbs the cost on uniforms that are obsolete <br />due to the employee leaving the City work force. <br />4. On a per week basis, what is the total amount of <br />the contract. ( dollars x weeks total dollars <br />Before the bid is awarded, it is felt that the Board of Public <br />Works should contact Monarch for answers to the above questions. <br />C s/ Michael L. Vance <br />C-) Upon motion made,seconded and carried, the Board filed the <br />report -and directed the Clerk to write a letter to Monarch, Inc. asking <br />for the information requested by the Controller's Office. <br />REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL STREET LIGHTING - 100E OAKSIDE <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Arthur D. Weller for <br />the installation of additional street lights in -the 100 block of <br />East Oakside Street. Mr. Farrand noted that, in keeping with <br />present Board policy, no additional lighting is being installed at <br />the present time because of budgetary limitations. All requests <br />are being filed and will be handled when additional funds become <br />available. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review. <br />15 MINUTE PARKING METERS APPROVED 100 WEST MONROE <br />The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski regarding <br />the request of Marvin Smith for green curb parking spaces and <br />15 minute meters in the 100 block of West Monroe Street on the <br />north side. Mr. Wadzinski said a check of the area was made and <br />he recommended that two fifteen minute meters be installed to provide <br />quick turnover in parking. The installation will be observed to <br />determine its effectiveness. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the Board approved the recommendation to install two fifteen minute <br />parking meters on the north side of the 100 block West Monroe. <br />Mr. Farrand noted that Mr. Smith had been advised that this was <br />being recommended. <br />STOP SIGNS APPROVED - NORTON AT BYRON <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended to the Board that <br />stop signs be installed on Norton Drive at Byron Drive. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the installation was approved. <br />LETTER RE: METERED PARKING ON MONDAY NIGHTS AND SATURDAYS <br />The following letter was read: <br />"Gentlemen: <br />The Council has passed an ordinance providing for free <br />parking in the downtown area on Monday evenings and <br />Saturdays. This ordinance has been signed by the Mayor. <br />
