REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 24, 1975 On the basis of the figia.res submitted, Monarch is the low bidder at'$687.42 per week, as opposed to Swank Dry Cleaners, Inca bid of $751.55 per week. It is felt that more information is needed before a recommendation to the Board may be transmitted. 1. Who bears the cost for replacement of garments that are lost, wear out prior to the three-year maturity date, or are in poor condition due to the type of work conditions they are used under. 2. Who makes the final determination as to whether a garment needs to be replaced. 3. Who absorbs the cost on uniforms that are obsolete due to the employee leaving the City work force. 4. On a per week basis, what is the total amount of the contract. ( dollars x weeks total dollars Before the bid is awarded, it is felt that the Board of Public Works should contact Monarch for answers to the above questions. C s/ Michael L. Vance C-) Upon motion made,seconded and carried, the Board filed the report -and directed the Clerk to write a letter to Monarch, Inc. asking for the information requested by the Controller's Office. REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL STREET LIGHTING - 100E OAKSIDE The Board received a request from Mrs. Arthur D. Weller for the installation of additional street lights in -the 100 block of East Oakside Street. Mr. Farrand noted that, in keeping with present Board policy, no additional lighting is being installed at the present time because of budgetary limitations. All requests are being filed and will be handled when additional funds become available. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for review. 15 MINUTE PARKING METERS APPROVED 100 WEST MONROE The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski regarding the request of Marvin Smith for green curb parking spaces and 15 minute meters in the 100 block of West Monroe Street on the north side. Mr. Wadzinski said a check of the area was made and he recommended that two fifteen minute meters be installed to provide quick turnover in parking. The installation will be observed to determine its effectiveness. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation to install two fifteen minute parking meters on the north side of the 100 block West Monroe. Mr. Farrand noted that Mr. Smith had been advised that this was being recommended. STOP SIGNS APPROVED - NORTON AT BYRON The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended to the Board that stop signs be installed on Norton Drive at Byron Drive. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the installation was approved. LETTER RE: METERED PARKING ON MONDAY NIGHTS AND SATURDAYS The following letter was read: "Gentlemen: The Council has passed an ordinance providing for free parking in the downtown area on Monday evenings and Saturdays. This ordinance has been signed by the Mayor.
