I f 2 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 20, 1975 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m, on Monday, October. 20, 1975 by Chairman Rollin E. Farrand;i,7ith <br />Mr. Farrand a -ad Mr. Barcome present.'Deputy City_Attorney-Kathleen. Cekanski <br />was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed <br />and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS — CREST MANOR SEWERS <br />This was the date set for opening bids for the construction of the <br />Crest Manor Sanitary Sewers in Sections l and 2, on Abshire, Raleigh, <br />and Miami Road, from Cambridge Drive to Huffman Drive. The Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The <br />following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Haskins, Inc. <br />Bid - $50,936.00 <br />Woodruff & Sons, Inc. <br />Bid - $29,932.80 <br />Dye Plumbing & Heating, Inc. <br />Bid - $39,040.50 <br />H. DeWulf Mech. Contractors <br />Bid - $71,172.00 <br />Bid was signed by Richard Haskins, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 51/0 bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Gordon D. Booz, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5% bid bond accompanied <br />the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Charles T. Dye, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Bid was signed by Henry DeWulf, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5;10 bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Marion Hamilton & Sons Bid was signed by Marion Hamilton, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />Bid - $33,737.15 and a 570 bid bond accompanied the bid. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to <br />the Bureau of Design and Administration for review and recommendation. <br />HOUSE MOVE APPROVED FROM 2208 PLEASANT TO 508 S. 26TH STREET <br />The Board received a notice from Forrest R. West, Building <br />Commissioner that application had been made by 17itschelen House <br />Movers to move a house from 2208 Pleasant to 509 S. 26th Street. <br />Adjacent property owners were notified that the Board would hear <br />the application this morning. There was no one present to speak on <br />the proposed move. It was noted that the Mitschelen House Movers <br />have a $5000 House Movers Bond on file with the Building Department. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the house <br />move, subject to submission and approval of the route by the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATIONS APPROVED <br />Douglas Simpson, Director of River Bend Plaza, was present and <br />submitted the following applications to the Board with his favorable <br />recommendation: <br />A. Halloween Party Costume Parade, Snake Dance and Bonfire from <br />4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 1975. Members of the <br />Board were asked to judge the costume parade. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board approved the application with <br />the recommendation that Mrs. Jerry Miller, Mrs..Rollin Farrand, <br />Mrs. James Barcome and Mrs. James Seitz be asked to serve as <br />judges for the costume parade. <br />1 <br />
