REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 29, 1975 <br />APPROVAL OF JOHN ADAMS HOMECOMING PARADE <br />The Board received a report from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, that a request had been received <br />the River Park Business Men's Association for a John Adams Homecoming <br />Parade on October 10, 1975 at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Wadzinski reviewed the <br />proposed route with Captain Sweitzer of the Police Department and <br />they recommend approval provided indemnity requirements of the Board <br />are met. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved <br />the parade request, subject to the filing of a certificate of <br />insurance to hold the City harmless. <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM AREA PLAN C014DIISSION RE: PETITION TO VACATE PORTIONS <br />OF IOWA AND KENTUCKY STREETS <br />The Board received a report from the Area Plan Commission that a <br />public hearing was held on the petition of the Bendix Corporation <br />to vacate certain portions of Iowa and Kentucky Streets between Westmoor <br />Street on the south and Prast Boulevard on the north and the Commission <br />was favorably recommending the petition to the Board. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the Board filed the recommendation and <br />referred the petition to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation <br />of the Vacation Resolution. <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM AREA PLAN COMMISSION RE: PETITION TO VACATE EAST - <br />WEST ALLEY FROM KEMBLE AVENUE <br />The Board received a report from the Area Plan Commission that a public <br />hearing was held on the petition of Emery Antalavits and Gene Minnick to <br />vacate the east -west alley running between Lots 6 and 7 in City View <br />Place, from Kemble Avenue on the west to the first north -south alley <br />between Donald and Calvert Streets on the east. The Commission <br />recommended the petition unfavorably to the Board. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board filed the recommendation and referred <br />the petition to the Bureau of Engineering for preparation of the <br />Vacation Resolution. <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM AREA PLAN COMMISSION RE: PETITION TO VACATE THREE <br />ALLEYS SOUTH OF MISHAWAKA AVENUE <br />The Board received a report from the Area Plan Commission that a <br />public hearing was held on the petition of the Trustees of Indiana <br />University to vacate the north -south alley from Mishawaka Avenue to <br />Vine Street, running parallel to and located west of 20th Street; and <br />the east -west alley running west from 20th Street to and intersecting <br />the alley described above, said alley being north of Lot 9 of Shank's <br />2nd Addition, City of South Bend; and the east -west alley running west <br />from 20th Street to and intersecting the alley described first above, <br />said alley beting south of Lot 7 of Shank's 2nd Addition, City of South <br />Bend. The Commission recommended the petition favorably to the Board. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board filed the recommenda- <br />tion and referred the petition to the Bureau of Engineering for <br />preparation of the Vacation Resolution. <br />FILING OF ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION.=. 3417 <br />Rollin E. Farrand, P. E., City Engineer, files with the Board an <br />Assessment Roll for Vacation Resolution No. 3417, 1975 for the <br />vacation of the first east -west alley south of Madison Street, between <br />Lots 171 and 172 in the Original Plat of South Bend, running from <br />Michigan Street west 165 feet to the east right-of-way line of <br />north -south alley.**The Board finds that each of said lots have been <br />benefited in the amount of $0.00 and damaged in the amount of $0.00. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board filed the Assessment <br />Roll and set Monday, November 3, 1975 at 9:30 a.m. as the time and <br />the Board of Works Hearing Room, 1308 County -City Building, as the <br />place where all persons interested in or affected by such vacation <br />may be heard. <br />** The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected <br />by such vacation: Lots 171 and 172 in the Original Plat of <br />South Bend. <br />
