REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 29, 1975 <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR POLICE -RADIO TRANSCEIVERS APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Chief John H. Walsh, Bureau of Police, <br />to advertise for bids for 10 portable transceivers. Specifications <br />wer attached and.Chief Walsh advised the Board that the transceivers <br />are allowable under Grant G75C-E07-01-059. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board approved the request and directed the Clerk to <br />advertise for bids, with sealed bids to be received on October 13, 1975. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended that the Board approve <br />the following traffic control devices: <br />A. Removal of 30 minute parking at 1414 Leer Street. Upon motion <br />made seconded and carried, the removal was approved. <br />B. Installation of two hour parking limit at 400 N. Hill. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the installation was approved. <br />C. Installation of 30 minute parking limit on the north side of the <br />700 block West Indiana. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, <br />the installation was approved. <br />D. Removal of Yield Sign on Clyde at Donald Street. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, the removal was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF FIRE STATIONS TO BE USED FOR VOTING PURPOSES <br />The Board received a request from W. Joseph Doran, St. Joseph County <br />Clerk, to use Fire Stations 2, 7, 9, 3, 6, 5 and 10 for voting <br />purposes on General Election Day, November 4, 1975. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF CYCLETHON FOR AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION OCTOBER 5 <br />The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, that the American Heart Association <br />Cyclethon on the City Bike Route on Sunday, October 5 had been reviewed <br />with Captain Sweitzer of the Police Department and approval was <br />recommended. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved <br />the Cyclethon. <br />APPROVAL OF BLOCKING NORTH ADAMS STREET FOR CHURCH BAZAAR <br />The Board received a recommendation from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of <br />the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, that he had reviewed the request <br />of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church to block North Adams Street <br />from Liston Street to the alley south of Orange Street for a Church <br />Bazaar on Saturday, October 4 from 10:00 a.m. until dark. Approval <br />was recommended with the concurrence of the Police Department. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the closing. <br />TEMPORARY OFFICE APPROVED FOR"RECYCLING SERVICES <br />The Board received a report from Forrest West, Building Commissioner, <br />that he had received and reviewed a request from Al Michelson, <br />Recycling Services, Inc. for the use of a temporary office at 307 W. <br />Calvert Street. Mr. West recommended approval. Mr. West was called <br />into the meeting and asked if he knew how long the temporary office <br />was to be used. Mr. West said he did not know. He said Mr. <br />Michelson wanted to use the temporary office while he pursued the matter <br />of getting the necessary license and permit for his operations at <br />another location. Mr. West said the length of the approval was at the <br />discretion of the Board. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the <br />Board approved the request for a temporary office at 307 W. Calvert <br />Street for six months, until April 1, 1976. At that time, if Mr. <br />Michelson feels he still needs the temporary office, he can come to <br />the Board and request an extension. <br />
