REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 29, 1975 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 1975 by Chairman Rollin E. <br />Farrand with all members present. Deputy City Attorney Kathleen <br />Cekanski was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALT AND LIQUID CALCIUM CHLORIDE, BUREAU OF STREETS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for rock salt and liquid <br />calcium chloride for the Bureau of Streets. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read, non -collusion affidavits being in order: <br />Diamond Crystal Salt Company Bid was signed by B. G. Jordan, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />Rock Salt and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - 10,000 Tons @ $14.60 per ton - Total Bid - $146,000 <br />International Salt Company Bid was signed by Jean O'Malley, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in -order <br />Rock Salt and a certified check was submitted. <br />Bid - 10,000 Tons @ $14.67 per ton - Total Bid - $146,700.00 <br />Orbie of Illiana, Inc. Bid was signed by Ed Otten, <br />J non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />Liquid Calcium Chloride and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - 100,000 gallons liquid calcium chloride <br />15.5� per gallon - Total Bid - $15,500. <br />1 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to <br />the Bureau of Streets for review and recommendation. <br />A representative of the Domtar Chemical Company was present and <br />showed the Board a copy of their bid which he said was mailed on <br />September 24. The mail room was checked and the bid was delivered to <br />the Board, postmarked September 25. The bid was opened and publicly <br />read as follows: <br />Domtar Chemicals Bid was signed by A. Loze, non - <br />collusion affidavit was in order and <br />Rock Salt a certified check was submitted. <br />Bid - 10,000 Tons @ $13.79 per ton - Total Bid - $137,900.00 <br />The bid of the Morton Salt Company was delivered from the mail room <br />indicating a postmark of September 24. The bid was opened and publicly <br />read as follows: <br />Morton Salt Company <br />Bid was signed by Coleman B. Hil-, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - 10,000 Tons @ $14.49 per ton - Total Bid - $144,900.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to <br />the Bureau of Streets for review with the other bids. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3420, CREST MANOR SEWERS <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on Improvement Resolution <br />No. 3420 for the construction of sanitary sewers in the Crest Manor <br />Subdivision, on Abshire Drive, Raleigh Drive and Miami Street.
