V <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 25, 1975 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened by <br />James V. Barcome at 9:30 a.m, on Monday, August 25, 1975 with <br />Mr. Barcome and Mr. Seitz present. Deputy City Attorney Kathleen <br />Cekanski was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - REMODELING OF 12TH, 13TH AND 14TH FLOORS <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the remodeling of the <br />12th, 13th and 14th Floors of the County -City Complex. The Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following <br />bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Palmer Construction Company Bid was signed by Robert Palmer, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 5 per cent bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Bid - $14,500.00 <br />Nunemaker Construction Company Bid was signed by G. R. Nunemaker, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a certified check in the amount of <br />$725.00 was submitted. <br />Bid - $14,500.00 <br />A bid was received from the H. F. Glaser Construction Company. The <br />bid was not signed and there was no one from Glaser Construction Company <br />present. The bid was rejected as being non -responsive and was not <br />read. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to <br />the Bureau of Design and Administration for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - INSTALLATION OF ALUMINUM SIDING, FIRE STATION NO. 9 <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the installation of <br />aluminum siding on Fire Station No. 9, 2520 Mishawaka Avenue. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and in the Tri-County News, which were found to be sufficient. <br />There were no bids received. Assistant Chief Joseph Nagy was present <br />and asked the Board if he could now negotiate a contract for the work. <br />Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski said the Legal Department <br />would research the matter and would have a recommendation for him today. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3416 <br />This being the date set for holding a hearing on the Assessment Roll <br />for Vacation Resolution No. 3416, hearing was held for the vacation <br />of the south half of the first north -south alley east of Walnut <br />Street, running from Western Avenue north to the first east -west <br />alley. The alley being petitioned for vacation is also adjacent to <br />and between Lot 73 and Lot 74 in the Commissioner's Sub. of Bank <br />Out Lots 85 and 86. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News on July 25, <br />August 1 and August 8, which were found to be sufficient. <br />No remonstrators appearing and no written remonstrances having been <br />received, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Assessment Roll <br />showing no net damages and no net benefits was approved as adopted <br />and said Resolution is in all things ratified and confirmed and said <br />proceedings closed. <br />
