V REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 25, 1975 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened by James V. Barcome at 9:30 a.m, on Monday, August 25, 1975 with Mr. Barcome and Mr. Seitz present. Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. OPENING OF BIDS - REMODELING OF 12TH, 13TH AND 14TH FLOORS This was the date set for receiving bids for the remodeling of the 12th, 13th and 14th Floors of the County -City Complex. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Palmer Construction Company Bid was signed by Robert Palmer, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a 5 per cent bid bond was submitted. Bid - $14,500.00 Nunemaker Construction Company Bid was signed by G. R. Nunemaker, non -collusion affidavit was in order and a certified check in the amount of $725.00 was submitted. Bid - $14,500.00 A bid was received from the H. F. Glaser Construction Company. The bid was not signed and there was no one from Glaser Construction Company present. The bid was rejected as being non -responsive and was not read. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau of Design and Administration for review and recommendation. OPENING OF BIDS - INSTALLATION OF ALUMINUM SIDING, FIRE STATION NO. 9 This was the date set for receiving bids for the installation of aluminum siding on Fire Station No. 9, 2520 Mishawaka Avenue. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and in the Tri-County News, which were found to be sufficient. There were no bids received. Assistant Chief Joseph Nagy was present and asked the Board if he could now negotiate a contract for the work. Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski said the Legal Department would research the matter and would have a recommendation for him today. PUBLIC HEARING - ASSESSMENT ROLL FOR VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3416 This being the date set for holding a hearing on the Assessment Roll for Vacation Resolution No. 3416, hearing was held for the vacation of the south half of the first north -south alley east of Walnut Street, running from Western Avenue north to the first east -west alley. The alley being petitioned for vacation is also adjacent to and between Lot 73 and Lot 74 in the Commissioner's Sub. of Bank Out Lots 85 and 86. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News on July 25, August 1 and August 8, which were found to be sufficient. No remonstrators appearing and no written remonstrances having been received, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Assessment Roll showing no net damages and no net benefits was approved as adopted and said Resolution is in all things ratified and confirmed and said proceedings closed.
