REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 11, 1975 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board recorded the <br />list of low bidders and filed the recommendation of Mr. McMahon. <br />The bids were taken under advisement for review and to initiate <br />E.D.A.review and make the necessary recommendations to the Common <br />Council. <br />HEARING —TAXI LICENSE DENIAL, FRED PRUITT <br />Attorney Robert Rosenfeld was present on behalf of Fred Pruitt, <br />whose application for a taxi license was denied. Mr. Pruitt was <br />not present. Mr. Rosenfeld asked the Board to reconsider the <br />denial on the basis of the 14th Amendment which guarantees that <br />such individuals should not be considered on':.the basis of a past <br />offense. Mr. Rosenfeld said, to cut down on the rate of recidivism, <br />the repeating of crimes by past offendors, it is necessary for those <br />individuals to be able to find employment. Deputy City Attorney <br />Kathleen Cekanski asked Mr. Rosenfeld whether he had talked to <br />Mr. Pruitt regarding what he has been doing since his parole. Mr. <br />Rosenfeld said he has not talked to Mr. Pruitt. Miss Cekanski said <br />she would ask Mr. Rosenfeld to submit to the Board, in writing, a <br />report on what Mr. Pruitt is doing and has been doing since his <br />conviction and parole, particularly since Mr. Rosenfeld said he <br />has not discussed the matter with Mr. Pruitt. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Board tabled the matter and requested <br />Cam' Mr. Rosenfeld presents a written report to the Board on what Mr. <br />Pruitt is doing now, has been doing since his parole and whether or <br />not he has any employment lined up if this application should be <br />approved. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - BUREAU OF FIRE <br />The Board received a request from Assistant Chief Joseph Nagy, Bureau <br />of Fire, to advertise for bids for the installation of aluminum <br />Siding on Fire Station 49, 2520 Mishawaka Avenue. Specifications <br />were attached to the request. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the Board approved the request and directed the Clerk to <br />advertise for bids with sealed bids to be received on August 25. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 22 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the following resolution <br />was adopted: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend <br />has compiled a current detailed inventory of all real property <br />owned by the City of South Bend, Indiana, pursuant to Section <br />30 A-1 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has reviewed said inventory <br />of real property and now finds that certain of the parcels of <br />real estate now owned by the City are not set aside by state or <br />city law for public purposes, pursuant to Section 30 A-2 of <br />the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works <br />action to make it possible for the <br />parcels of real estate pursuant to <br />Code of the City of South Bend, <br />now wishes to take the necessary <br />Board, in the future, to sell said <br />Chapter 30A of the Municipal <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works <br />of the City of South Bend, Indiana: <br />1. That the parcels of real estate owned by the City <br />contained in the following list are not necessary <br />to the public use and are not set aside by state <br />or city law for public purposes: <br />Part of Lots Seventeen (17) and Eighteen (18) <br />of Francis L. Keefer's Subdivision of Bank Out <br />Lot 29 and 30. Deed No. 348 <br />
