REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 27, 1977 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 1977 by President Patrick M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Mr. Mullen reported that the minutes of the December 19, 1977 meeting had been reviewed and he made a motion that they be approved as submitted. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. PUBLIC HEARING - REVENUE SHARING APPROPRIATIONS This was the date set for public hearing on the following revenue sharing appropriation ordinances: AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $53,200 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT FUND, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING GRANT, FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE (HUMANE SOCIETY CONTRACT) AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $27,425.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY KNOWN AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR VARIOUS LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAMS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF LAW (LEGAL INTERNE PROGRAM) AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $57,931.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY KNOWN AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE OPERATION OF THE YOUTH SERVICES BUREAU, TO BE ADMINISTERED THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $290,000.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY KNOWN AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE OPERATION OF CENTURY CENTER TO BE ADMINISTERED THROUGH THE CENTURY CENTER BOARD OF MANAGERS (UTILITY BILLS FOR 1978) AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $110,000.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY KNOWN AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR OPERATING THE DISCOVERY HALL PORTION OF CENTURY CENTER FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1978, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $49,460.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE RIVER BEND PLAZA, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE.CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $36,500.00 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, FOR THE POLICE RECRUIT PROGRAM TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT (POLICE RECRUIT PROGRAM) The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune which were found to be sufficient. Mr. McMahon noted that the ordinances have been filed with the Common Council and have been set for public hearing on January 9, 1978. He reported that, in accordance with guidelines established for such appropriations, information about this public hearing has been forwarded to the following citizen groups, with the request that the information be posted for the members: Foster Grandparents, Hansel Neighborhood Service Center, Harvest House Centers, Howard Park Senior Citizens' Center, R.E.A.L. Services, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Senior Citizens Group of LaSalle Park. There were no citizens present who wished to speak on the appropriations and no written comments were filed with the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the information was filed with the Board and will be transmitted, along with the minutes of this meeting, for the Common Council public hearing on the appropriation ordinances.
