REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 14, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 1977 by President Patrick 11. McMahon, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City <br />Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS APPROVED <br />Mr. McMahon reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the regular <br />meeting of November 7, 1977 and he made a motion that they be accepted <br />as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. Mr. <br />McMahon also noted that he had reviewed the minutes of a special meeting <br />held on November 9, 1977 to consider the request of St. Joseph County <br />Veteran's Organizations to close Washington Street for the Veteran's <br />Day Ceremonies on November 11. He made a motion that the minutes of <br />the special meeting be approved as submitted. Mr. Brunner seconded <br />the motion and it carried. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />The Board received a request from the Gates Chevrolet Company to hold <br />a Tent Sale and the renewal of lease agreements with A.C.T.I.O.N., Inc. <br />after the regular meeting agenda was prepared. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the items were added <br />to the agenda. <br />TENT SALE APPROVED - GATES CHEVROLET COMPANY <br />James Outman of the Gates Chevrolet Company submitted a request to <br />erect a tent at 403 Western Avenue for a Tent Sale to be held on <br />Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the <br />request subject to the requirements of the Building Department, the <br />Fire Department Inspection Bureau and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - LEASE OF AUT0140BILE <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the lease of an automobile <br />for the Bureau of Employment and Training. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found.to be sufficient. :The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />Medow Leasing, Inc. Bid was signed by Stanley A. Pollyea, <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - 1978 Dodge Aspen - $143.40 per month for one year, with mileage <br />charge over 10,000 miles at 4 cents per mile. <br />Option to extend lease for an additional year at the rate of <br />$86.90 per month. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bid was referred to the Bureau of Employment and Training for <br />review and recommendation. <br />HOUSE MOVE APPROVED - 316 W. MARION TO 809 W. COLFAX <br />John DeLee, Building Commissioner, submitted to the Board the request <br />of Thomas Nawrot to move a house from 316 W. Marion Street to 809 <br />W. Colfax Avenue. Adjacent property owners have been notified of the <br />move and copies of the notification letters were submitted, along with <br />letters from the Utilities Companies involved.
