BID AWARDED - PORTABLE STAGES FOR CENTURY CENTER AND LETTER <br />VERIFYING FUNDING FOR BIDS AWARDED FILED <br />At the Board's request, the St. Joseph. County Hotel -Motel Tax <br />Board of Managers submitted a letter confirming the funding for <br />kitchen equipment, chairs, chair dollies, tables, table dollies, <br />dance floor and stages for Century Center. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the letter was <br />ordered filed. <br />The Board of Managers submitted to the Board a recommendation that <br />the bid of Sico Company for portable staging for Century Center be <br />accepted, utilizing their alternate bid and reducing the quantities <br />in Items 1A, 1B and 2A from 28 to 24 and reducing the quantity in <br />Item 9A from 10 to 8. Total amount of the bid award is $41,309.78. <br />It was explained that the bid acceptance covers sets of risers in <br />varying sizes to be used as stages, head tables, etc. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />approved the recommendation to award the bid for portable staging. <br />CONTRACT APPROVED - CREST MANOR SEWERS <br />The contract with Marion Hamilton & Son, Inc. for the Crest Manor <br />Sewer Project, in accordance with the bid awarded last Monday, was <br />submitted to the Board along with a bid tabulation and the Performance <br />and Labor and Materials Payment Bonds. Mr. Brunner commented that <br />this was the bid opened and awarded last Monday and asked Mr. McMahon <br />the reason for that action. Mr. McMahon explained that the award was <br />made to expedite the construction and the contractor is ready to start. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the contract was approved and the Performance and Labor and Materials <br />Payment Bonds were filed. <br />REQUEST FILED - INTERSECTION SOLICITATION BY AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY <br />The American Cancer Society submitted a request to solicit funds on <br />Saturday, October 8 at the intersections of Eddy and Angela, Ironwood <br />and Mishawaka, Edison and Ironwood, Northside and Sample and Ironwood <br />and Pleasant. Mr. Stark, Director, indicated that the Society has <br />a permit from the Charitable Solicitations Commission and will abide <br />by the guidelines for such fund solicitations as adopted by the Board <br />on August 15, 1977. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail for <br />review and recommendation. <br />REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY TRAILER AT 1622 MISHAWAKA AVENUE APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Minit Print to allow a temporary <br />trailer to be placed at 1622 Mishawaka Avenue to be used as an office <br />while repairs are made to a fire -damaged structure. The temporary <br />permit is requested for a period of two months. Upon motion.made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />approved the temporary office for a period of two months. <br />REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY OFFICE AT 3301 LINCOLNWAY WEST APPROVED <br />Thrifty Rent-A-Car owner William Hindsley requested permission from <br />the Board to place a trailer on his property at 3301 Lincolnway <br />West while his business operation is expanded. He anticipates the <br />need for the temporary permit to be from six to nine months. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />Board approved the temporary office for a period of six months. <br />
