1 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 6, 1977 <br />The Board meeting was reconvened at 3:00 p.m. by President Patrick <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen in attendance. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />APPROVAL OF LETTER OF AGREEMENT FOR PHASE ONE OF DISCOVERY HALL <br />SUBJECT TO ,FUNDING <br />Richard Welch, Director of Discovery Hall Museum, was present and <br />submitted.to the Board a letter of agreement from Joseph A. Wetzel <br />Associates for Phase One of the design exhibits for Discovery Hall. <br />Total cost of the services outlined in the letter is $13,940.00. <br />Mr. Mullen explained that there are to be no City funds expended <br />but there will be a fund drive conducted to raise the necessary <br />money. Mr. Brunner said it would be difficult for the Board <br />enter into a contract for which there are no funds. Mr. Welch said <br />they would like an agreement in order to establish goals for the fund <br />drive. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the Board approved the agreement subject to acquisition of <br />the funding and referred the letter to the Legal Depatment for the <br />preparation of an appropriate document for signature. <br />CENTURY CENTER BIDS READ <br />Mr. McMahon reported that four bids received for Century Center <br />equipment were not in compliance with the specifications in that <br />they did not provide certified checks or bid bonds as required <br />in the notice. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone advised the <br />Board that this was a technical defect not a fatal defect and could <br />be corrected. He notified the four bidders that the Board would <br />consider their bids if proper bid security was delivered to the <br />Board office by the close of the business day on Friday, September <br />2, 1977. Mr. Crone stated that three of the bidders, American <br />Seating Company, GF Business Equipment Company and Wenger Corporation <br />have supplied certified checks and their bids can now be read. <br />Midwest Cabinet Company, Charles Howell, President, received <br />notice from Mr. Crone regarding submittal of a bid bond or certified <br />check but has not submitted a bond or a check at this time. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. Brunner, seconded by Mr. McMahon and carried, the <br />Board rejected the bid of Midwest Cabinet_ Company and the bids of the <br />other companies were now read as follows: <br />GF Business Equipment Company <br />Youngstown, Ohio <br />Bid Voluntary Alternate <br />Stacking Chairs and Dollies <br />Voluntary Alternate <br />Stacking Chairs and Dollies <br />Wenger Corporation <br />Owatonna, Minnesota <br />Bid was signed by Richard C. Anderson, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a certified check in the amount <br />of $11,792.50 was submitted. <br />Bid -Portable Stage <br />Voluntary Alternate $49,448.00 <br />$117,925.00 <br />$ 74,725.00 <br />Bid was signed by Vern O. White, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a certified check in the amount <br />of $4,944.80 was submitted. <br />The bid of the American Seating Company was read on August 29, 1977. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Civic Center Board of Managers and the <br />Hotel -Motel Tax Board for review and recommendation. <br />
