�0 REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 15, 1977 Industrial Foundation was present and advised the Board that this action is necessary because there has been so much interest shown in the industrial park and the foundation needs to open up more lots. Mr. MrMahon noted that the funding will be provided through an Economic Development Association grant. He requested that Mr. Bessire provide the Board with a memorandum outlining the funding that is available prior to the opening of bids for the projects. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board signed the title sheets approving the plans and authorized the advertising for bids for the projects BID ADVERTISING REQUEST AMENDED - CURB REPAIR John Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, had received authorization from the Board to advertise for bids for curb repairs on various streets. Mr. Leszczynski requested that the Board amend his request to include curb repair on Ford Street, between Sunnyside and Scenic Drive. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr, Brunner and carried, the Board approved the.request to add the Ford Street project to the curb repair bid advertising. REQUEST FOR WALKATHON FILED''MARCH'OF DIMES In accordance with the requirement for six months advance notice for all Walkathons, the March of Dimes submitted a request to hold their annual Walkathon on April 15, 1978. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board reserved the date for the organization and referred the request to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail for review and recommendation. CLOSING OF CHAPIN STREET ON AUGUST 20'APPROVED Msgr. John Sabo, Pastor of Our Lady of Hungary Church, requested that the Board approve the closing of Chapin Street on Saturday, August 20, 1977, from noon until midnight, for the annual parish festival. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reviewed the request with the Police Department Traffic Detail and they recommend approval. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the street closing was approved. TAXI LICENSE DENIED - LEONARD PALMER Peter H. Mullen, City Controller, advised the Board that he has reviewed the recommendation of the Police Department that a taxi license application for Leonard Palmer should be denied because of his extensive driving record. Mr. Mullen reported that he concurred with the Police Department that the license should be denied. It was also noted that the applicant did not disclose all of his convictions on the application submitted. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board denied the application for license. Mr. Palmer is to be advised that the Board would consider his application one year from now if he has no further driving violations. RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATION APPROVED Mary Kay Huszar, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted an application for an Arts -Mobile, sponsored by the Michiana Arts & Sciences Council, to be on the Plaza on August 24 and August 31. The unit will serve as a portable ticket trolley, with tickets and information about upcoming cultural attractions. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the application was approved.
