�0 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 15, 1977 <br />Industrial Foundation was present and advised the Board that this <br />action is necessary because there has been so much interest shown <br />in the industrial park and the foundation needs to open up more lots. <br />Mr. MrMahon noted that the funding will be provided through an <br />Economic Development Association grant. He requested that Mr. Bessire <br />provide the Board with a memorandum outlining the funding that is <br />available prior to the opening of bids for the projects. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />signed the title sheets approving the plans and authorized the <br />advertising for bids for the projects <br />BID ADVERTISING REQUEST AMENDED - CURB REPAIR <br />John Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, had <br />received authorization from the Board to advertise for bids for <br />curb repairs on various streets. Mr. Leszczynski requested that <br />the Board amend his request to include curb repair on Ford Street, <br />between Sunnyside and Scenic Drive. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr, Brunner and carried, the Board approved the.request <br />to add the Ford Street project to the curb repair bid advertising. <br />REQUEST FOR WALKATHON FILED''MARCH'OF DIMES <br />In accordance with the requirement for six months advance notice <br />for all Walkathons, the March of Dimes submitted a request to hold <br />their annual Walkathon on April 15, 1978. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board reserved <br />the date for the organization and referred the request to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail <br />for review and recommendation. <br />CLOSING OF CHAPIN STREET ON AUGUST 20'APPROVED <br />Msgr. John Sabo, Pastor of Our Lady of Hungary Church, requested that <br />the Board approve the closing of Chapin Street on Saturday, August <br />20, 1977, from noon until midnight, for the annual parish festival. <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reviewed the request with the <br />Police Department Traffic Detail and they recommend approval. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the street closing was approved. <br />TAXI LICENSE DENIED - LEONARD PALMER <br />Peter H. Mullen, City Controller, advised the Board that he has <br />reviewed the recommendation of the Police Department that a taxi <br />license application for Leonard Palmer should be denied because <br />of his extensive driving record. Mr. Mullen reported that he <br />concurred with the Police Department that the license should be <br />denied. It was also noted that the applicant did not disclose all <br />of his convictions on the application submitted. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />denied the application for license. Mr. Palmer is to be advised that <br />the Board would consider his application one year from now if he <br />has no further driving violations. <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA APPLICATION APPROVED <br />Mary Kay Huszar, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted an <br />application for an Arts -Mobile, sponsored by the Michiana Arts & <br />Sciences Council, to be on the Plaza on August 24 and August 31. <br />The unit will serve as a portable ticket trolley, with tickets and <br />information about upcoming cultural attractions. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the application <br />was approved. <br />
