REGULAR MEETING JULY 5, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 1977 by President Patrick M. McMahon, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City <br />Attorney Terry A. Crone was also present. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Mr. McMahon reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the June 27 <br />meeting of the Board and he made a motion that they be accepted as <br />submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />A special meeting was held on June 27, 1977 to approve advertising <br />for sealed bids for the property known as the old Street Department <br />yards, Corby and Niles Avenue. The Council has approved the sale of <br />the property. Bids are to be received on July 25, 1977. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the minutes <br />of the June 27 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />A special meeting was held on June 28, 1977 to consider applications <br />for two fireworks stands. Mr. McMahon made a motion that the minutes <br />of the special meeting on June 28 be approved as submitted. Mr. Mullen <br />seconded the motion and it carried. - <br />OPENING OF BIDS - FOOD SERVICE EQUIPMENT FOR CENTURY CENTER <br />This'was the date set for receiving bids for Food Service Equipment for <br />Century Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice <br />in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to <br />be sufficient. Mr. McMahon noted that Brian Hedman, Executive Director, <br />of Century Center, and Mr. Graeber, Mr. Stanek and Mrs. Conley of the <br />Hotel -Motel Tax Board were present and this was a joint meeting of both <br />Boards. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />General Store Fixture Company Bid was signed by Milton Dreyfus, <br />Gary, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid as per specifications - $259,757.00 <br />Stafford -Smith, Inc. Bid was signed by David J. Stafford, <br />Kalamazoo, Michigan non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid as per specifications - $247,233.00 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Hotel -Motel Tax Board and the Civic <br />Center Board of Managers for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - THEATRICAL LIGHTING FOR CENTURY CENTER <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for theatrical lighting for <br />Century Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice <br />in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found <br />to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Colip Electric Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - Base Lighting Package - <br />Alternate JfA <br />Alternate #B <br />Optional Equipment <br />Dimmer Racks <br />Preset console <br />Bid was signed by Charles D. Colip, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />$96,000.00 <br />85,000.00 <br />84,500.00 <br />3,300.00 <br />1,800.00 <br />Several voluntary alternates were submitted but were not read at this <br />time. <br />
