4 2: REGULAR MEETING JUNE 6, 1977 REPORT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN UP CREW FOR MAY FILED The report of the Environmental Clean -Up Crew for the month of May was submitted to the Board by Ed Nowak and Joseph Gawrysiak. The report indicated 81 lots cleaned, and also included cleaning trash and weeds on the Memorial Parade route downtown and on the Chapin Street Inner -belt. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was filed. Mr. McMahon noted that the weed crew will start working today and will be utilizing CETA personnel to control the weed problem this summer. REQUEST TO DISPOSE OF OBSOLETE EQUIPMENT APPROVED Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, requested approval of the Board for disposition of 1,190 street name signs and 48 walk -wait pedestrian signals. The items are obsolet-e and their scrap value is minimal. Mr. Wadzinski asked permission to sell the items at the River Bend Plaza Garage Sale on June 11 at $1.00 per street name sign and $15.00 per signal. He noted that the sale of pedestrian signals would require the purchaser to sign a statement indicating that the signal would not be displayed in view of the motoring or walking public. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved the disposition of the item$ listed above up to a limit of $500.00 and requested that the Legal Department prepare the necessary document to be signed by purchasers of the pedestrian signals. BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - TTENTY."SEVENTH STREET Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported to the Board that the request of Mrs. Beth Ekstrand to block 27th Street on Friday, June 10 had been reviewed with the Police Department traffic detail. They have no objection to the closing of the street from 4:00 p.m. to midnight, with the stipulation that the entire block, from Hastings Street to Wall Street be closed. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommmendation was approved. BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - RAINBOW DRIVE Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported to the Board that the request of the Riverside Manor Horae Owners to block the circle at the end of 3800 Rainbow Drive on July 1 had been reviewed with the Police Department traffic detail. They have no objection to the closing of the street from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 P.M. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the recommendation was approved. ST. ADALBERT'S PROCESSION APPROVED - SUNDAY. JUNE 12 Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported that he had reviewed the request of St. Adalbert's Church to hold a procession on Sunday, June 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. He recommended that approval be given with the stipulation that the parade use the sidewalk area on Olive Street and cross Olive Street with the aid of a police officer. He further recommended that parking be prohibited on Huron Street, from Phillipa to Olive, and on one side of Phillipa Street. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation was approved. BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - CENTURY CENTER THEATRICAL LIGHTING Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, requested that the Board approve advertising for bids for theatrical lighting equipment for Century Center. Plans and specifications have been prepared by the architect and the Clerk will be advised when bids are to be advertised. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request to advertise for bids was approved.
