BERT ELLIS AS CHIEF HEATING INSPECTOR APPROVED <br />John DeLee, Building Commissioner, recommended that the Board <br />approve the appointment of A. Bert Ellis as Chief Heating Inspector <br />for the City of South Bend to fill the vacancy created by the <br />death of Neil Crumb. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved the recommendation. <br />ASSESSMENT POLL FILED - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3441 <br />Patrick 11. McMahon, Civil City Engineer, files an Assessment Roll <br />for Vacation Resolution No. 3441 for the vacation of the east -west <br />alley between South Street and Bronson Street from the east right-of- <br />way line of Michigan Street east to the west right-of-way line of <br />the north -south alley; also from the east right-of-way line of <br />the north -south alley east to the west right-of-way line of St. <br />Joseph Street. The following lots may be injuriously or beneficially <br />affected by such vacation: Lot Nos. 1 through 6 of Bronson Survey <br />and Lot Nos. 17 through 24 of Taylor rield'lst Addition. The Board <br />finds that each of said lots have been damaged in the amount of $0.00 <br />and benefited in the amount of $0.00. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Assessment Roll was <br />filed and set for public hearing on June 27, 1977 at 9:30 a.m. <br />AMENDED OFFER TO PURCHASE 721-725 S. FELLOWS APPROVED <br />The Board had received an offer from Esther Waldon to purchase a <br />city -owned lot at 721-725 S. Fellows Street for $500. The offering <br />price for the lot had been established at $991.00 following the <br />appraisals. The Board had requested that Mrs. Waldon be asked to <br />increase her offer at least to cover the $200 appraisal fees. Mrs. <br />Waldon now submits an offer to purchase the lot at 721-725 S. Fellows <br />Street for $700. The Board determined that they would be willing <br />to request approval of the Coon Council, in accordance with the <br />ordinance governing sale of property, to sell the lot for less than <br />the offering price. Upon motion by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the Board accepted Mrs. Waldon's offer of $700 for the <br />city -owned lot at 721-725. S. Fellows, subject to concurrence of the <br />Common Council. The Legal Department was requested to prepare a <br />purchase agreement for Mrs. Waldon's signature and the resolution <br />for Common Council approval of the sale. <br />APPLICATIO14 FOP. MASSAGE ESTABLISHMENT AND TECHNICIAN LICENSE FILED <br />James McCay filed with the Board an application to operate a massage <br />establishment at Dave's Gym, 914 N. Olive Street. 11r. McCay will be <br />asked to submit an additional application for a technician's license. <br />Upon motion rude by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the Board filed the application and referred it to the Building, Fire <br />and Police Departments for review and recommendation and set it for <br />a public hearing on Monday, June 27 at\9:30 a.m. <br />REQUEST TO SELL OBSOLETE PARKING METER HEADS APPROVED <br />Joseph Paszli, Manager of the Parking Garages, submitted a request <br />to the Board to sell 350 obsolete parking meter heads, valued at <br />$5.00 each, at the River Bend Plaza Garage Sale on June 11. The <br />Board discussed the requirements for sale of obsolete equipment and <br />determined that sale of the meter heads could be authorized up to <br />a limit of $500. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the Board authorized Mr. Paszli to dispose of <br />the deter heads at the garage sale up to a limit of $500.00 total sales. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET SERVICES FILED <br />Missionary Dora Lottie submitted a request to hold Street Services <br />during the morith of June on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of <br />each week at the corner of Chapin and Napier from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />Police Department Traffic Detail for review and recormendation. <br />
