REGULAR MEETING JUNE 6, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 <br />a.m. on Monday, June 6, 1977 by President Patrick M. McMahon, with <br />Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City <br />Attorneys Terry Crone and Georgia Luks were also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEiETING APPROVED <br />Mr. McMahon reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the May <br />312 1977 meeting of the Board and he made a motion that they be <br />approved as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - FIXED SEATING FOR CENTURY CENTER <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Fixed Seating for Century <br />Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News, which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Irwin Seating Company Bid was signed by William W. Irwin, <br />Grand Rapids, Michigan non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Base Bid - $49,356.00 <br />American Seating; Company Bid was signed by Fred E. Vandenberg, <br />Grand Rapids, Michigan non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5/0 bid bond was submitted. <br />Base Bid - $55,345.50 <br />Imperial Enterprises Bid was signed by R. Q. Calloway, <br />Lafayette, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />The bid was labeled a voluntary alternate. A company representative <br />present indicated that this was their base bid but they had also <br />submitted an alternate bid. Mr. McMahon noted that the figure listed <br />would be read as the base bid but the matter would be reviewed by the <br />Legal Department and the Building Authority. <br />Bid - $59,980.00. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by PZr. Mullen and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Division of Engineering and the Civic <br />Center Board of Managers for review and recommendation, with a possible <br />recommendation for award to be made yet this week. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - PAINTING OF PAR1,UNG STRUCTURES <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the painting of the <br />two parking structures, on Colfax and Jefferson. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri County News which were found to be sufficient. The following <br />bids were opened and publicly read: <br />A. Hartke & Sons., Inc. Bid was signed by Donald A. Hartke, <br />South Bend, Indiana Sr., non -collusion affidavit was <br />in order and a 5/0 bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid - Colfax Garage - $16,000.00 <br />Jefferson Garage - $23,000.00 <br />This was the only bid received. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the bid was referred to the Bureau of <br />Parking Garages for review and recormendation. <br />
