REGULAR MEETING MAY 9, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 1977 by Patrick Pl. McMahon, President, <br />with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City <br />Attorney Georgia Luks was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS APPROVED <br />Mr. McMahon made a notion that the minutes of the Play 2, 1977 meeting <br />of the Board be approved as submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the <br />motion and it carried. <br />Mr. McMahon reported that a special meeting of the Board was held <br />on May 5, 1977 for the purpose of signing the title sheet approving <br />the plans for the Johnson Street Sanitary Sewer so that bids could <br />be advertised on Play 6. Mr. McPlahon made a motion that the minutes <br />of the special meeting be approved as subr_litted. Mr. Mullen seconded <br />the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR GRAPHICS FOR CENTURY CE14TER <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for Interior and Exterior <br />Graphics for Century Center. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County.News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Nicel Industries <br />Mt. Prospect, Illinois <br />Deputy City Attorney Georgia Luks advised the Board that the non - <br />collusion affidavit on the bid form was not signed, making the bid <br />defective. The bid was not read. <br />North Anerican Signs Bid was signed by Noel Yarger, <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - $24,684.00. A number of alternate bids were submitted. <br />The amount budgeted for the graphics was $25,000. Mr. McMahon noted <br />that it had been anticipated there would be more bidders. He made a <br />motion that the bid be referred to the Century Center Board of <br />Managers for review and a determination by next Monday, Play 16 as <br />to whether or not the bid should be considered or the Board should <br />readvertise, in view of the fact that the bid response was so limited. <br />Mr. _Mullen seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - PARTITIONS FOR TENTH FLOOR REMODELING <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for partitions for the <br />Tenth Floor Remodeling for the Department of Manpower and Training. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />Ziolkowski Construction Company <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid - 30A Panels <br />4B Panels <br />12C Panels <br />4D Panels $3,913.00 <br />Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order and a 10% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. MCPla.hon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bid was referred to the Bureau of Manpower and Training for <br />review and recorlmendation. <br />1 <br />
