REGULAR MEETING APRIL 4', 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 1977 by President Patrick 12. McMahon <br />with Eir. McMahon and Mr. Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney <br />Georgia Luks was also present. <br />141NUTE S OF MARCH 28 IIEET I14G APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that lie had reviewed the minutes of the March <br />28 meeting of the Board had he made'a motion that the minutes be <br />accepted as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the notion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - POLICE DEPARTMENT VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for vehicles for the Police <br />Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Basney Ford Bid was signed by James A.,Basney, <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Twenty-eight 1977 Ford LTD 4 Door Vehicles <br />Unit Price - $4771.80. Individual Trade-in allowances were <br />listed as requested. <br />Freeman -Slicer Bid was s,icgned by J. Spicer, non - <br />South Bend, Indiana collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Twenty-eight 1977 Plymouth Volare 4 Door Vehicles <br />Unit Price - $4710..18.. Individual Trade-in allowances were <br />listed as requested. <br />Don Iledow Pontiac Bid was signed by Donald B. liedow, <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Twenty-eight Pontiac Lemans 4 Door Vehicles <br />Unit Price - $4594.92. Individual Trade-in allowances vTere <br />listed as requested. <br />Gates Chevrolet Company Bid was signed by Garry E. Westfall, <br />South Bend, Indiana non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted <br />Bid - Twenty-eight Chevrolet Nova 4 Door Vehicles <br />Unit Price - $4380 to . $4f�05 based _on, .style of seats bid". <br />Trade-in valuations were listed as requested. <br />Upon motion rlade by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the bids were referred to the Bureau of Police and the Bureau of <br />Vehicle Maintenance for review and recommendation. <br />CONTRACT APPROVED- REMODELING OF TENTH FLOOR FOR CETA OFFICES- <br />Mr. McMahon reported that the tenth floor of the County -City Building <br />is to be remodeled for expansion of the CETA offices. The project <br />cost was under the amount which requires competitive bidding. Elroy <br />Kelzenberg, Director of Manpower and Training, secured two proposals <br />for the work; one from the Nunemaker Construction Company in the <br />amount of $4465.80 and one from the Ziolkowski Construction Company in <br />the arlount of $3575.00. Plans for the work were prepared by David A. <br />Wells, Manager of the Bureau of_,Design and Administration. Mr. Kelzenberg <br />recor._ugended that the Board enter into a contract with Ziolkowski <br />Construction Company for the work. A report was received from Frank <br />Alford stating that a pre -construction conference was held and that all <br />Ll <br />
