REGULAR MEETING <br />MARCH 28, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:30 a.m, on Monday,•March 23, 1977 by President Patrick <br />11. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner & Mr. Mullen- 'present. Deputy <br />City Attorney Georgia C. Luks was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS 11EETING APPROVED <br />TZr. Mullen reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the <br />March 21 neeting of the Board and he made a motion that they <br />be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded, the r..lotion and <br />it carried. <br />REQUEST FOR OUTSIDE TABLES AT CORNUCOPIA RESTAURANT FILED <br />The Board received a letter from Rob and Carol Friend, oimers <br />of the Cornucopia Restaurant, requesting permission to operate <br />an outside restaurant in front of their establishment at 303 <br />S. Michigan Street A drawing of the location of the proposed <br />tables and chairs was submitted and Mr. Friend indicated that <br />the St. Joseph Insurance Agency would supply their liability <br />insurance. Mr. Brunner asked whether the location of the tables <br />left the fire lanes clear. Mr. Friend said the tables will be <br />located on the sidewalk and the brick area and are movable and <br />could be removed at a moment's notice. Mr. McMahon riade.a motion <br />that the request be tabled and referred to the Fire Department <br />for a report as to how this operation will affect the fire lanes. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - REMODELING OF 'TENTH FLOOD. <br />The Board received a request from Elroy Kelzenberg, Director, of <br />Manpower and Training, to advertise for bids for the remodeling <br />of space on the Tenth Floor of the County -City Building being leased <br />from the County for expansion of the CETA program. Mr. McMahon <br />asked Mr. I:elzenberg if plans and specifications were completed and <br />Mr. Kelzenberg said they were being modified and would be available <br />this week. Upon notion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the Board authorized the advertising for bids for the <br />remodeling of the Tenth Floor area of the County -City Building <br />when plans and specifications have been filed with the Board. <br />RECOMPENDATION TO ACCEPT STREET MATERIALS BIDS <br />The Board received a recor_imendation from John Baumgartner, Assistant <br />Street Commissioner, that the following bids for street materials <br />be accepted for 1977: <br />The Levy Company, Inc. <br />St. Joseph Materials Company <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc. <br />Emulsified Asphalts, Inc. <br />Westville Oil & Manufacturing Compan-V <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Company, Inc. <br />Rose Fuel & Materials, Inc. <br />Kuert Concrete, Inc. <br />j•Jestern Materials Company <br />Mr. 11c1lahon noted that he had reviewed the bids and it was his <br />recor.�riendation ,that the bids be accepted as submitted. The hot <br />asphalt bids of both Walsh & Kelly, Inc. and Rieth--Riley are <br />reconnended for acceptance, in compliance with the previous policy <br />established by the Board. Major itens of naterial were bid at <br />anproxinately the sane figures as last year. Mr., McMahon made <br />a motion that the recor_miendation to accept Street Materials bids <br />as outlined above be accepted. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion <br />and it carried. <br />
