REGULAR MEETING MARCH 28, 1977 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m, on Monday,•March 23, 1977 by President Patrick 11. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner & Mr. Mullen- 'present. Deputy City Attorney Georgia C. Luks was also present. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS 11EETING APPROVED TZr. Mullen reported that he had reviewed the minutes of the March 21 neeting of the Board and he made a motion that they be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded, the r..lotion and it carried. REQUEST FOR OUTSIDE TABLES AT CORNUCOPIA RESTAURANT FILED The Board received a letter from Rob and Carol Friend, oimers of the Cornucopia Restaurant, requesting permission to operate an outside restaurant in front of their establishment at 303 S. Michigan Street A drawing of the location of the proposed tables and chairs was submitted and Mr. Friend indicated that the St. Joseph Insurance Agency would supply their liability insurance. Mr. Brunner asked whether the location of the tables left the fire lanes clear. Mr. Friend said the tables will be located on the sidewalk and the brick area and are movable and could be removed at a moment's notice. Mr. McMahon riade.a motion that the request be tabled and referred to the Fire Department for a report as to how this operation will affect the fire lanes. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - REMODELING OF 'TENTH FLOOD. The Board received a request from Elroy Kelzenberg, Director, of Manpower and Training, to advertise for bids for the remodeling of space on the Tenth Floor of the County -City Building being leased from the County for expansion of the CETA program. Mr. McMahon asked Mr. I:elzenberg if plans and specifications were completed and Mr. Kelzenberg said they were being modified and would be available this week. Upon notion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board authorized the advertising for bids for the remodeling of the Tenth Floor area of the County -City Building when plans and specifications have been filed with the Board. RECOMPENDATION TO ACCEPT STREET MATERIALS BIDS The Board received a recor_imendation from John Baumgartner, Assistant Street Commissioner, that the following bids for street materials be accepted for 1977: The Levy Company, Inc. St. Joseph Materials Company Walsh & Kelly, Inc. Emulsified Asphalts, Inc. Westville Oil & Manufacturing Compan-V Rieth-Riley Construction Company, Inc. Rose Fuel & Materials, Inc. Kuert Concrete, Inc. j•Jestern Materials Company Mr. 11c1lahon noted that he had reviewed the bids and it was his recor.�riendation ,that the bids be accepted as submitted. The hot asphalt bids of both Walsh & Kelly, Inc. and Rieth--Riley are reconnended for acceptance, in compliance with the previous policy established by the Board. Major itens of naterial were bid at anproxinately the sane figures as last year. Mr., McMahon made a motion that the recor_miendation to accept Street Materials bids as outlined above be accepted. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried.
