REGULAI'. MEETING JANUAPff 24, 1977 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.rn, on Monday, January 24, 1977 by President Patrick <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr. Brunner and Mr. Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Georgia Luks was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Brunner noted that he had reviewed the minutes of the meeting <br />of January 10 and he rlade a motion that the minutes be approved as <br />submitted. 111r. McMahon seconded the notion and it carried. Mr. <br />Mcklahon reported that a special sleeting was held on January 19 to <br />adopt a resolution accepting an insurance proposal and he rude <br />a motion that the minutes of the special meeting be approved as <br />submitted. Mr. Mullen seconded the r.:iotion and it carried. <br />ACCEPTANCE OF SAVE -A -LIFE FUND DONATION BY MAYOR NEMETH <br />Mayor Peter J. Nemeth was present as was Councilman Walter Szymkowiak. <br />Mayor Nemeth advised the Board that Councilman Szymkowiak has been <br />very interested in the Save -A -Life Fund which is a fund-raising <br />project to support the paramedic prograri. He said Councilman <br />Szymkowiak wished to make a report at this time. Councilman <br />Sz;Tmkowiak said he was very happy to present to the Mayor a check <br />in the amount of $985.17, raised by conducting a benefit dance for <br />the paramedic program. Councilman 5z-Nmkowiak said he would continue <br />his efforts to raise funds for this worthwhile cause. Mayor Nemeth <br />thanked the Councilman for the check and for the time he has spent <br />on behalf of the Safe -A -Life project. The ilavor noted that the fund <br />now totals 87,863.58. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CP.ESTWOOD-EDISON SIGNALIZATION <br />This was the date set for opening bids for the signalization of <br />the Crestwood -Edison intersection. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County <br />News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were <br />opened and publicly read: <br />Arrow Electric Conpan,7 Bid was signed bIT Harold Markward, <br />1104 S. 23rd St. non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Indiana order and a five per cent bid bond <br />was submitted <br />Bid - $23,147.17 <br />Morse Electric Company Bid was signed by Edward H, iZorse, <br />712 N. Niles Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />South Bend, Indiana and a five per cent bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid - $20,311.60 <br />Upon notion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - POLICE DEPAR�i'MENT VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for twelve vehicles for <br />the Police Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South BendTribune and tiie Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened <br />and publicly read. <br />
