REGULAR PEETING <br />DECEMBER 27, 1976 <br />twenty years old. Mr. Mullen explained the money will be corning <br />fron Revenue Sharing Funds. Upon notion made by 17r'. Farrand, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board approved Chief <br />Van Wiele's request to advertise for bids for a radio dispatching <br />unit, with bids to be received on January 10, 1977. <br />BID AWARDED - POLICE DEPAR-ITIENT UNIFORM <br />The Board of Public Works received a recommendation from Chief <br />Michael C. Borkowski regarding uniforms for the Police Department. <br />The bids of individual items listed by each of the two bidders <br />have some items lower in separate categories with the Shield <br />Uniform Company just over $100 lower in the required items. <br />Chief' Borkowski advised -_the Board that the bid of Shield Uniform <br />C.oripany Tia_s the lowest( and be,st bid and re'cor_imended to' the Board <br />t-hat,this bid: -be -accepted for -the year 1977... (lake these purchases. <br />Upon notion .rude, _by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen. and <br />carried, the Board approved the recoruien:dation of Chief Borkowski <br />and awarded the bid for Police Department uniforms for 1977 to <br />Shield Uniform Company. <br />VALLEY CABLEVISION COP.PORATION - FRANCHISE TRANSFER <br />The following letter was read by the Board: <br />On the 22nd day of August, 1966, the Board of Public Works and <br />Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, entered into a CATV <br />Franchise agreement whereby Valley Cablevision Corporation was <br />granted the right to construct, operate and maintain a com- <br />munity antenna television system in.the City of South Bend; <br />Section VII of said CATV Franchise agreement provides as <br />follows <br />"This franchise and grant may not be <br />assigned without the express and prior <br />written consent of the Board of Public <br />Works and Safety of the City of South <br />Bend." <br />The owners of all of the issued and outstanding stock of <br />Valley Cablevision Corporation, to -wit: Schurz Cormiunica- <br />tions, Inc., Truth Publishing Company, Inc., and Hichiana <br />Telecasting Corp., have entered into an agreement with <br />Indiana Cablevision Corporation --whereby said shareholders <br />agreed to sell all of the outstanding shares of Valley Cable - <br />vision Corporation stock: to Indiana Cablevision Corporation. <br />This agreement further provides that upon the consummation of <br />said sale, Valley Cablevision Corporation will be nerged into <br />Indiana Cablevision Corporation. <br />Said shareholders, Schurz Communications, Inc., Truth Publishing <br />Company, Inc. and Plichiana Telecasting Corp., respectfully <br />request written consent of the Board of Public Works of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana to the sale and transfer of said <br />stock and the transfer by Valley Cablevision Corporation to <br />Indiana Cablevision Corporation of all of its right under the <br />aforementioned CATV Franchise agreement that will result by <br />reason of the merger of Valley Cablevision Corporation into <br />Indiana Cablevision Corporation. <br />I have been assured that a representative of Indiana Cablevision <br />Corporation and representatives of the shareholders above referred <br />to will be present at any meeting of the Board of Public Works to <br />furnish such information and assurances as may be requested. <br />SCHURZ COMUNICATIONS, INC. <br />TRUTH PUBLISHING COTT.
