REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBEI/ 22, 1976 <br />APPROVAL OF PURCHASE AGREEMENT-- SALE OF 814 FOREST AVENUE. <br />A purchase agreement for the sale of the lot.at 814 Forest Avenue <br />was prepared by Deputy City Attorney Georgia Luks and submitted <br />to the prospective purchaser, Southhold Heritage Foundation. They <br />have signed the agreement and it is now submitted to the Board. <br />Mr. Farrand noted that the lot has been reviewed by City departments <br />and the Common Council has approved the sale. Offering price for <br />the lot was established at $762.00. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board signed the purchase <br />agreement and referred it to the Legal Department for preparation of <br />the deed and final closing. <br />REPORT ON PETITION TO VACATE A PORTION OF SPRUCE STREET <br />The Bureau of Engineering reported to the Board that they have <br />reviewed the petition of Slutsky Peltz Plumbing & Heating Company <br />to vacate a portion of Spruce Street and have no objection .to the <br />vacation, subject to the utility easements. Upon motion ,made by <br />Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board filed <br />the report and referred the petition to.the Area Plan Commission <br />for a public hearing and recommendation. <br />NOTIFICATION OF PATE CHANGE SOUTH BEND PARKING COMPANY <br />The Board received notification from the South Bend Parking Company <br />of a rate increase in Lot #20, at 220 W. Wayne Street, which will <br />result in a rate of 75� for up to twelve -hours of parking. Mr. <br />Farrand noted that it is a requirement of the Municipal Code that the <br />Board of Public Works be advised of any rate changes in public <br />parking lots. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the Board filed the notification and directed the Clerk <br />to notify the South Bend Parking Company that the rates must be posted <br />at the lot and the change will become effective upon posting. <br />APPROVAL OF CONTRACT BET17EEN CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND Y.W.C.A. <br />Mr. Mullen submitted to the Board a contract between the City of <br />South Bend and the Y.W.C.A. which provides that for payment of <br />$30,000 the Y.W.C.A. will provide residential living arrangements <br />for women who are alone, counseling and additional services for <br />pregnant adolescents and programs for disadvantaged pre-school <br />children. These services will be rendered at the Y.W.C.A. Building, <br />802 N. Lafayette Boulevard. The Y.W.C.A. is to submit quarterly <br />reports to the Board of Public Works for approval. Mr. Mullen made <br />a motion that the Board approve the contract with the Y.W.C.A. <br />subject to funding by the South Bend Common Council. Per. Brunner <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />DESIGNATION OF METERED SPACES FOR DRIVER EXAMINER AREA <br />Mr. Farrand noted that Jack Ellis, Manager of :the South Bend License <br />Branch, had contacted the City regarding the proposed move of the <br />Branch to a building on the Plaza at 333 S. Michigan Street. Mr. <br />Ellis requested that six meters on the south side of Western Avenue <br />be designated as a Driver Examiner Area for people taking driving <br />tests. It was suggested that the meters be designated as one -hour <br />meters and the date of requirement for the spaces was given as <br />December 6, 1976. Mr. Farrand noted that this request was reviewed <br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and they have no objection to <br />approval. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the Board approved the request and Meters 4, 6; 8, 10, <br />12 and 14, on the south side of Western Avenue at Michigan, were <br />designated as a Driver Examiner Area. <br />1 <br />
