222 <br />REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 22. 1976 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:30 a.m. on November 22, 1976 by President Rollin E. Farrand <br />with Mr. Farrand and Mr. Brunner present. Deputy City Attorney <br />Georgia Luks was also in attendance. Peter H. Mullen, City <br />Controller, joined the meeting at 9:40 a.m. <br />REVIEW OF III14UTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING <br />Mr. Brunner reported that the minutes of the November 15 meeting <br />had been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be <br />accepted as submitted. Mr. Farrand seconded the motion and.it <br />carried. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - FIRE DEPARTNENT HOSE <br />The Board received detailed specifications for fire hose <br />and a request from Chief Oscar Van Wiele that the Board advertise <br />for bids. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the Board approved the request and directed the Clerk <br />to advertise for bids on November 26 and December 3, with bids <br />to be received on December 6, 1976. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - FIRE DEPARTMENT VEHICLES <br />This was the date set for receiving, bids for vehicles for the <br />Fire Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of <br />notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and <br />publicly read: <br />Jordan Ford Bid was signed by Craig A. Kapson, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 101/0 bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - Group One - Unit price, $4,804.25 - Total, $14,682.75 <br />Group Two - Unit price, $4,353.72 - Total, $13,061.16 <br />No trade-ins were listed <br />Freeman -Spicer Bid was signed by Jeffrey Spicer, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was::submitted. <br />Bid - Group One - Unit price, $4,746.05 - Total, $14,238.15 <br />Group Two - Unit price, $4,108.28 - Total, $12,324.84 <br />Less Trade-ins 650.00 <br />net $11,674.7 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the bids were referred to the Bureau of Fire for <br />review and recommendation. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - SALE OF CITY-014NED LOT AT 748 DIAMOND AVENUE <br />This .was the date set for receiving; bids for the sale of a <br />city -owned lot at 748 Diamond Avenue. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. T%.zo <br />prospective purchasers were notified of the invitation for bids. <br />The following bid was opened and read: <br />Robert F. Pallas, 748 Diamond Avenue, submitted a letter bid in <br />the amount of $710.00 for the lot at 748 Diamond Avenue. The <br />offering price set by the Board was $650.00. Mr. Farrand noted <br />that the bid from Mr. Pallas is more than the offering price and he <br />made a motion that the Board accept the bid and refer the bid to <br />the Legal Department for preparation of the deed. Mr. Mullen <br />seconded the motion and it carried. <br />
