REGULAR MEETING NOVE14BER 1, 1976
BID ADVERTISI14G APPROVED TAUF°FOR BUREAU OF TRAFFIC AND LIGHTING
Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting,
requested permission to advertise for bids for one 3/4 ton pick
up truck for his Department. Mr. Farrand noted that this item was
in the budget for 1976 but the Controller's office had asked that
they delay advertising for bids. They have now indicated that the
money will be available. Upon motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded
by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Department was authorized to prepare
specifications for a truck and the Clerk was directed to advertise
for bids on November 5 and 12, with sealed bids to be received on
November 15, 1976.
REPORT ON PETITION FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL ON OLIVE AND PRAIRIE
The Board received a report from Ralph Wadzinski, Manager of the
Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, that an inrormal study of the
intersection at Olive and Prairie was begun. A check of accident
reports indicates two accidents occurred at this location up to
the middle of September, 1976. A speed check was attempted but,
because of malfunctioning equipment, the check could not be
completed. The malfunctioning equipment is now in Chicago for
repairs. Mr. Farrand made a motion that the report be filed
until the equipment is repaired and a complete report can be given.
Mr. Brunner asked how soon the report might be expected and Mr.
Farrand said in about three weeks. Mr. Brunner said, in view of
the interest in this matter, the City might investigate borrowing
equipment to complete the stud-,T. Mr. Farrand said other governmental
units normally borrow such equipment from the City of South Bend
but said lie would look into the matter. Mr. Farrand made a motion
that the report be filed and attempts be made to secure equipment
so that a complete report could be made in two weeks. Mr. Mullen
seconded the motion and it carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon
motion made by Mr. Farrand, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the
meeting adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
Rollin E. Farrand
ATTEST:
Patricia DeCler_cq, Clerk
