411 <br />REGULAR MEETING ISEPTEMBER 13, 1982 <br />APPROVE RECOMMENDATION TO DENY INSTALLATION OF <br />HANDICAPPED SIGN - 117 NORTH NOIRE DAME AVENUE <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended denial of the request received on August <br />16, 1982, from Dorothy Ross, on behalf of Emma Roessler, for a <br />handicapped parking sign in front of Mrs. Roessler's home Iat <br />117 N. Notre Dame Avenue. It was noted that placement of <br />handicapped signs at this time has been restricted to business <br />district areas to provide on -street parking spaces for the <br />handicapped where they cannot be provided off-street. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski., seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the recommendation to deny the request was approved. <br />APPROVE PARADE OF PROGRESSIVE BAPTIST CHURCH <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting submitted a favorable recommenda- <br />tion for the request of the Progressive Baptist Church to conduct <br />a street parade on September 19, 1982, starting at 9:30 a.m., at <br />331 South Scott Street, subject to the following route change: <br />East on Western and Jefferson to St. Louis, south on <br />St. Louis to Wayne, east on Wayne to Sunnyside, and <br />Q south on Sunnyside to Bronson. <br />It was noted that the required Certificate of Insurance for use <br />of the city streets for the parade was in order and on file in <br />the Board office. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE DATE OF MICHIANA LUNG RUN - JUNE 11, 1983 <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended approval of the <br />date of June 11, 1983, for the annual Michiana Lung Run. It <br />was noted that a meeting would be scheduled between the city <br />and representatives of the Lung Run to discuss the race and <br />submit final recommendations to the Board concerning the route <br />and starting time. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the date of June 11, 1983, was approved <br />and reserved for the Michiana Lung Run sponsored by the American <br />Lung Association. <br />APPROVE DATE OF SPORTS MED 10K FOOTRACE - NOVEMBER 7. 1982 <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting recommended approval of the <br />date of November 7, 1982, for the Sports Med 10K Footrace <br />sponsored by St. Joseph's Medical Center, with final recommenda- <br />tions to be submitted to the Board at its September 20th meeting <br />concerning the route and starting time. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the date of <br />November 7, 1982, was approved and reserved for the Sports Med <br />10K race. <br />APPROVE STREET CLOSURES FOR EDGEWATER PLACE 111STORI'CAL TOUR <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended approval of the request of Southhold <br />Restoration to close the following streets on September 26, 1982; <br />from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., for the Edgewater Place Historical <br />Tour of Homes: <br />Monroe Street from Lincolnway East to Edgewater Drive, <br />Arch Avenue from Lincolnway East to Edgewater Drive,' <br />Bronson Court from the first alley east of Lincolnway <br />East to Edgewater Drive, <br />Edgewater Drive from Monroe to Bronson Court, and <br />River Avenue from Monroe to Arch. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above recommendation was approved subject to the <br />maintenance of a 12 foot clear and unobstructed lane at either <br />curb or down the center of the street for emergency purposes. <br />
