395 <br />I <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 30, 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, August 30, 1982, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. <br />Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Deputy City Attorney <br />Thomas Bodnar. <br />CANCELLATION OF SEPTEMBER 6TH BOARD MEETING (LABOR DAY) <br />Upon -a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the regularly scheduled meeting of September 6th was <br />cancelled because of the Labor Day holiday. It was announced <br />that the next meeting of the Board would be held on Monday, <br />September 13, 1982. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the minutes of the August 23., 1982, regular meeting of <br />the Board were approved as submitted. <br />ADENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, recommendations for traffic control devices were added <br />to the agenda following requests to purchase city -owned properties. <br />OPENING OF BIDS A14D BID AWARD-"MONROE-SAMPLE REDEVELOPMENT PHASE II <br />This was the date set for receiving sealed bids for the construction <br />of the Monroe -Sample Redevelopment Project, Phase II. The Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The <br />following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc. Bid was signed by Thomas 0. Walsh, <br />24358 State Road 23 non -collusion affidavit was in <br />South Bend, Indiana 46614 order, and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />$278,675.50 <br />Ziolkowski Construction, Inc. <br />1005 S. Lafayette <br />South Bend, Indiana 46624 <br />$304,737.80 <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Co. <br />P. 0. Box 1775 <br />South Bend, Indiana 46634 <br />$239,679.25 <br />Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Richard D. Ruhlman, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering Depart- <br />ment for review and recommendation. Following a review of the <br />bids by the Bureau of Public Construction, Mr. Neil A. Shanahan <br />recommended the Board award the low bid of Rieth-Riley Construction <br />in the amount of $239,679.25. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the bid as recommended was awarded. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - REROOFING OF FIRE STATION NO. 4 <br />This was the date set for receiving sealed bids for the reroofing <br />of Fire Station No. 4 located at 220 North Olive Street. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />
