REGULAR MEETING JULY 26', 1982
REQUEST TO LEASE PORTION OF ALLEN'S ALLEY (SENOR KELLY'S CAFE)
A request was received from Edgar L. Davis, President of Senor
Kelly's Mexican/Irish Cafe, 119 North Michigan Street, inquir-
ing into the possibility of leasing from the city a portion of
Allen's Alley from Woodward Court to Michigan Street to be used
for a family restaurant entrance and outdoor garden area.
Submitted with the request were drawings showing the entrance,
fence and garden area to be utilized on the alley. Upon a.
motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and
carried, the request was referred to the Legal Department
and Redevelopment Department for review and recommendation.
Mr. Leszczynski noted that the area was located within
Redevelopment Project R-66, and the comments from that depart-
ment concerning the proposed use of the alley would be beneficial
to the Board in rendering its decision on whether or not a lease
would be in the best interests of the city and community.
APPROVE BLOCK PARTIES AND STREET CLOSURES
Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and
Lighting, submitted a favorable recommendation for approval by
the Board of the following block parties and temporary street
and alley closures in conjunction with community activities:
Garland Circle - Saturday, September 4, 1982, from
4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Requested by Gerald A. Kamm,
Suite 725, St. Joseph Bank Building)
Wall Street between Twyckenham and east side of
island separating Chester and Wall Streets -
Saturday, August 14, 1982, from 4:00 p.m. to
12:00 midnight. (Requested by Timothy J.
Kinney, 1401 Wall Street)
Alleys surrounding William Penn Club Lodge, 1024
West Indiana Avenue - Saturday, July 31, 1982,
commencing at 12:00 noon. (Requested by William
Penn Association for annual club picnic)
Assumption Drive - Saturday, August 15, 1982, from
noon to 10:00 p.m. (Requested by St. Mary of the
Assumption Church for annual parish festival)
Mr. Wadzinski further recommended that a 12-foot clear and
unobstructed lane be maintained at either curb or down the
center of the street for the activities on Garland Circle,
Wall Street and Assumption Drive. Upon a motion made by Mr.
Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above
recommendations and requests were approved.
FILE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS
A list containing 52 lots ordered cleaned by the Director of the
Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office was submitted.. It was
noted that property owners had been advised to clean up the
lots and had failed to do so. Upon a motion made by Mr.
Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the environ-
mental list was filed.
APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS
Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and
carried, the Public Parking License application for C. E, Lee
Company, 215 South Main Street, was approved and referred to the
Deputy Controller's Office for issuance.
