340 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 12. 1982 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, July 12, 1982, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. <br />Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant City <br />Attorney Carolyn Pfotenhauer. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of June 28, 1982, <br />were approved as submitted. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - DE-ICING MATERIALS <br />This was the date set for receiving sealed bids for de-icing <br />materials for the Street Department. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- <br />County News which were found to be sufficient. The following <br />bids were opened and publicly read: <br />Pierceton Equipment Co. Bid was signed by David J. <br />P. 0. Box 233 Nicol, non -collusion affidavit was <br />Laketon, Ind. 46943 order, and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />100,000 gallons- Liquid Calcium Chloride $ .3349/gal. <br />International Salt Co. Bid was signed by Donald B. Holman, <br />Clarks Summit, Pa. 18411 non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a certified check in the <br />amount of $29,988.00 was submitted. <br />12,000 ton - Rock Salt $22.50/ton <br />Morton Salt, Div. of Bid was signed by David B. Nilson, <br />Morton -Norwich Products non -collusion affidavit was in <br />110 North Wacker Dr. order, and a certified check in <br />Chicago, Ill. 606061555 order, and a certified check in the <br />amount of $27,804.00 was submitted. <br />12,000 ton - Rock Salt $23.17/ton <br />Domtar Industries, Inc. Bid was signed by R. J. Jarecki, <br />9950 W. Lawrence Ave. non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />Schiller Park, Ill. 60176 and a certified check in the amount <br />of $26,028.00 was submitted. <br />12,000 ton - Rock Salt $21.69/ton <br />The Levy Co., Inc. Bid was signed by R. D. Marrese, non- <br />P. 0. Box 540 collusion affidavit was in order, and <br />Portage, Ind. 46368 a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />10,000 ton - Calcium Chloride Slag Sand $11.75/ton <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that a letter had been received from Diamond <br />Crystal Salt Company, St. Clair, Michigan, indicating that the <br />firm would not be bidding at this time on de-icing materials. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to Mr. Sean Watt, Director <br />of the Division of Transportation, for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE HOUSE MOVE - 2502 MISHAWAKA AVENUE TO 2911 E. NORTH SIDE BLVD. <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the Remodelers Council of the Home <br />Builders Association of St. Joseph County, owner of a structure <br />located at 2501 Mishawaka Avenue, was requesting permission to <br />have Lewis Mitschelen move the building to 2911 East Northside <br />Boulevard utilizing Mishawaka Avenue to 26th Street and on to <br />Northside Boulevard and its destination.
