340 REGULAR MEETING JULY 12. 1982 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, July 12, 1982, by President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn Pfotenhauer. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of June 28, 1982, were approved as submitted. OPENING OF BIDS - DE-ICING MATERIALS This was the date set for receiving sealed bids for de-icing materials for the Street Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Pierceton Equipment Co. Bid was signed by David J. P. 0. Box 233 Nicol, non -collusion affidavit was Laketon, Ind. 46943 order, and a 10% bid bond was submitted. 100,000 gallons- Liquid Calcium Chloride $ .3349/gal. International Salt Co. Bid was signed by Donald B. Holman, Clarks Summit, Pa. 18411 non -collusion affidavit was in order, and a certified check in the amount of $29,988.00 was submitted. 12,000 ton - Rock Salt $22.50/ton Morton Salt, Div. of Bid was signed by David B. Nilson, Morton -Norwich Products non -collusion affidavit was in 110 North Wacker Dr. order, and a certified check in Chicago, Ill. 606061555 order, and a certified check in the amount of $27,804.00 was submitted. 12,000 ton - Rock Salt $23.17/ton Domtar Industries, Inc. Bid was signed by R. J. Jarecki, 9950 W. Lawrence Ave. non -collusion affidavit was in order, Schiller Park, Ill. 60176 and a certified check in the amount of $26,028.00 was submitted. 12,000 ton - Rock Salt $21.69/ton The Levy Co., Inc. Bid was signed by R. D. Marrese, non- P. 0. Box 540 collusion affidavit was in order, and Portage, Ind. 46368 a 10% bid bond was submitted. 10,000 ton - Calcium Chloride Slag Sand $11.75/ton Mr. Leszczynski advised that a letter had been received from Diamond Crystal Salt Company, St. Clair, Michigan, indicating that the firm would not be bidding at this time on de-icing materials. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the above bids were referred to Mr. Sean Watt, Director of the Division of Transportation, for review and recommendation. APPROVE HOUSE MOVE - 2502 MISHAWAKA AVENUE TO 2911 E. NORTH SIDE BLVD. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the Remodelers Council of the Home Builders Association of St. Joseph County, owner of a structure located at 2501 Mishawaka Avenue, was requesting permission to have Lewis Mitschelen move the building to 2911 East Northside Boulevard utilizing Mishawaka Avenue to 26th Street and on to Northside Boulevard and its destination.
