<br />REGULAR MEETING
<br />JUNE 21. 1982
<br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened
<br />at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, June 21, 1982, by President John E.
<br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and
<br />Mr. Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant
<br />City Attorney Carolyn Pfotenhauer.
<br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS APPROVED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and
<br />carried, the minutes of the regular meeting of June 7, 1982,
<br />were approved as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the minutes of
<br />the regular meeting of June 14, 1982, were approved as submitted.
<br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, an amendment to Resolution No. 15, 1982, adopted by
<br />the Board on May 24, 1982, approving the issuance of a scrap
<br />dealer's license to Mr. Herman Williams, d/b/a South Main Auto
<br />�. Parts, 1819 South Main Street, was added to the agenda follow-
<br />(29 ing action on the Open Air Stand License applications.
<br />Q APPROVE HOUSE MOVES - 5182 NORTH LAFAYETTE TO 111 NORTH
<br />Q ST. PAUL'S PLACE AND 518 NORTH LAFAYETTE TO 420 WEST WASHINGTON
<br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that Mr. James L. Mullins, owner of the
<br />building commonly referred to -as the Carriage House, located
<br />at the rear of Lot 17 in-Rockafeller's 2nd Addition (5182 N.
<br />Lafayette), was requesting permission to have Lykowski
<br />Construction Company move the 32' x 24', two-story building,
<br />from 5182 N. Lafayette to 111 N. St. Paul's Place utilizing
<br />N. Lafayette to LaSalle, LaSalle west to William, William
<br />south to Washington and west on Washington to the northwest
<br />corner of Washington and St. Paul's Place. It was noted that
<br />the Building Department and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting
<br />had no objections to the proposed house move. Mr. F. Jay
<br />Nimtz, representing the trustees of the St. Paul's United
<br />Methodist Church at 1001 West Colfax Avenue, supported the
<br />move of the Carriage House to 111 N. St. Paul's Place. Mr.
<br />William Ellison, 1008 West Colfax Avenue, asked about the
<br />intended usage of the property. Mr. Jeffrey Gibboney, Director
<br />of Southold Heritage Foundation, explained that Mr. Mullins
<br />was the owner of the property at 1005 West Washington Street
<br />and the Carriage House would be moved to the rear of that
<br />property fronting on St. Paul's Place. Mr. Gibboney stated
<br />that a construction loan had been made available to Mr. Mullins
<br />for that purpose and the structure would be used as an apartment
<br />on the upper level and a garage on the first floor. Mr. Ellison
<br />stated that he had no objections to the move because he was
<br />sure Mr. Mullins would make the facility and grounds very
<br />attractive. It was noted that all adjacent property owners had
<br />been notified of the move and no one was present to speak
<br />against the house move. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the public hearing was closed.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan
<br />and carried, the house move as proposed was approved.
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that Southold Heritage Foundation,: the
<br />owner of a 45' x 70', two and a half story structure, located
<br />at 518 N. Lafayette Boulevard, was requesting permission to
<br />move the structure to 420 West Washington Street, along the
<br />same route as the above building and at the same time Lykowski
<br />Construction would likewise perform the actual house move. Mr.
<br />Leszczynski noted that the moves of the two buildings would
<br />not take place until after July 5, 1982, and a request had
<br />been made by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting that off -duty
<br />policemen be used to assist in traffic control. Another
