REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 24, 1982 <br />305 <br />[1 <br />FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN-UP OF LOTS <br />A list containing 14 lots ordered cleaned by the Director of <br />the Neighborhood Code Enforcement Office was submitted. It <br />was noted that property owners had been advised to clean up <br />the lots and had failed to do so. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the environmental <br />list was filed. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the license application of the Cathedral Church of St. <br />James, for a Public Parking License at 102-110 St. James Court <br />was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office <br />for issuance of the appropriate permit. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 15, 1982, AND APPROVAL OF <br />SCRAP DEALER'S LICENSE (SOUTH MAIN AUTO PARTS) <br />RESOLUTION NO. 15. 1982 <br />WHEREAS, a license application for operation of a scrap <br />yard has been submitted to the Board of Public Works by <br />Herman T. Williams, d/b/a South Main Auto Parts, for <br />property located at 1819 South Main Street, as shown <br />on the attached diagram; and <br />WHEREAS, the property is now licensed as a scrap yard <br />under a license issued to South Bend Auto Parts (Charles <br />Rhoades) on February 5, 1982; and Mr. Williams is in the <br />process of purchasing said property for the continued <br />operation of a scrap yard under the name of South Main <br />Auto Parts, said purchase being contingent upon <br />issuance of said license by the City of South Bend; and <br />WHEP.EAS, in accordance with Ordinance No. 6998-81 <br />which licenses such operations, inspections of the <br />property were conducted by the Neighborhood Code <br />Enforcement Office and the Fire Prevention Bureau on <br />May 6, 1982, and May 13, 1982, respectively; and <br />WHEREAS, no code violations on said property existed <br />as evidenced by the Neighborhood Code Enforcement <br />Office inspection report; however, a recommendation <br />was made by the Fire Prevention Bureau on May 13, <br />1982, that all hand fire extinguishers be checked <br />and recharged if necessary since it appeared some <br />extinguishers had been used; and <br />WHEREAS, compliance with a 15-foot buffer strip <br />between the property lines and fencing which abuts <br />public right-of-way is required on all new businesses <br />or existing businesses which expand after July 1, <br />1980, as stipulated in Ordinance No. 6998-81. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public <br />Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the <br />license application of Herman T. Williams for <br />operation of a scrap yard at the premises located <br />at 1819 South Main Street be approved based on the <br />following: <br />1. Full compliance with Fire Department <br />recommendations and regulations regard- <br />ing fire prevention measures within 60 <br />days of commencement of operation by <br />Mr. Williams, d/b/a South Main Auto Parts, <br />
