REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 19, 1982 <br />263 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, April 19, 1982, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with John E. Leszczynski and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan <br />present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn <br />Pfotenhauer. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the minutes of the April 12, 1982, regular meeting <br />of the Board were approved as submitted. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BID - LOADING AND HAULING DEBRIS <br />(SPRING CLEAN-UP PROGRAM) <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for <br />the loading and hauling of debris to an approved landfill in <br />conjunction with the spring clean-up program. The Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News which.were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />(� Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Bid was signed by Richard D. <br />P. 0. Box 1775 Ruhlman, non -collusion affidavit <br />South Bend, Ind. 46634 was in order, and a 5% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />$5.60 per cubic yard <br />Ritschard Brothers, Inc. Bid was signed by Donald Ritschard,' <br />1204 W. Sample Street non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />South Bend, Ind. 46619 and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />$6.97 per cubic yard <br />LaFree Excavating, Inc. Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, <br />11252 West Third Street non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />Osceola, Ind. 46561 and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />$4.79 per cubic yard <br />Industrial Plant Service, Inc. Bid was signed by James E. Hurwich, <br />2425 Western Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />South Bend, Ind. 46619 and a certified check in the amount <br />of $900.00 was submitted. <br />$2.25 per cubic yard for hauling of debris only; all <br />loading and payment of landfill dumping fees to be <br />paid by the city. <br />Arco Engineering Construction Bid was signed by William Reiff, <br />705 S. Beiger Street non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />Mishawaka, Ind. 46544 and a 5io bid bond was submitted. <br />$10.00 per cubic yard <br />Superior Waste Systems, Inca Bid was signed by James S. DeBoer, <br />P. 0. Box 3001 non -collusion affidavit was in order, <br />54107 Butternut Road and a 5% bid bond was submitted. <br />South Bend, Ind. 46619 <br />$3.93 per cubic yard <br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Public Eorks Department had <br />estimated the loading and hauling of 8,000 cubic yards of debris <br />based on the amounts hauled in previous years. He advised that <br />the low bid of Industrial Plant Service did not include the <br />loading of debris nor the payment of dumping fees which costs <br />were to be borne by the contractor as stipulated in the specifica- <br />tions for the project.
