REGULAR MEETING APRIL 19, 1982 263 The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, April 19, 1982, by President John E. Leszczynski, with John E. Leszczynski and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn Pfotenhauer. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the minutes of the April 12, 1982, regular meeting of the Board were approved as submitted. OPENING AND AWARD OF BID - LOADING AND HAULING DEBRIS (SPRING CLEAN-UP PROGRAM) This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for the loading and hauling of debris to an approved landfill in conjunction with the spring clean-up program. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which.were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: (� Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Bid was signed by Richard D. P. 0. Box 1775 Ruhlman, non -collusion affidavit South Bend, Ind. 46634 was in order, and a 5% bid bond was submitted. $5.60 per cubic yard Ritschard Brothers, Inc. Bid was signed by Donald Ritschard,' 1204 W. Sample Street non -collusion affidavit was in order, South Bend, Ind. 46619 and a 5% bid bond was submitted. $6.97 per cubic yard LaFree Excavating, Inc. Bid was signed by Richard LaFree, 11252 West Third Street non -collusion affidavit was in order, Osceola, Ind. 46561 and a 5% bid bond was submitted. $4.79 per cubic yard Industrial Plant Service, Inc. Bid was signed by James E. Hurwich, 2425 Western Avenue non -collusion affidavit was in order, South Bend, Ind. 46619 and a certified check in the amount of $900.00 was submitted. $2.25 per cubic yard for hauling of debris only; all loading and payment of landfill dumping fees to be paid by the city. Arco Engineering Construction Bid was signed by William Reiff, 705 S. Beiger Street non -collusion affidavit was in order, Mishawaka, Ind. 46544 and a 5io bid bond was submitted. $10.00 per cubic yard Superior Waste Systems, Inca Bid was signed by James S. DeBoer, P. 0. Box 3001 non -collusion affidavit was in order, 54107 Butternut Road and a 5% bid bond was submitted. South Bend, Ind. 46619 $3.93 per cubic yard Mr. Leszczynski stated that the Public Eorks Department had estimated the loading and hauling of 8,000 cubic yards of debris based on the amounts hauled in previous years. He advised that the low bid of Industrial Plant Service did not include the loading of debris nor the payment of dumping fees which costs were to be borne by the contractor as stipulated in the specifica- tions for the project.
