REGULAR MEETING MARCH 29, 1982
APPROVE SECRETARIES' DAY PROGRAM ON"RIVER BEND PLAZA
Ms. Mikki Dobski, City Events Coordinator, requested the use of
River Bend Plaza and the stage in front of Robertson's Depart-
ment Store for a Secretaries' Day Program to be held from
11:30 a.m, to 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, April 21, 1982. The
Board was informed that the program would consist of a band,
style show, presentation of awards and proclamation and a sack
lunch provided by Robertson's. It was noted that, in the case
of inclement weather, the program would be held in the lobby of
the County -City Building. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved.
APPROVE USE OF RIVER BEND PLAZA FOR DYNGUS DAY CELEBRATION
Ms. Mikki Dobski, City Events Coordinator, also requested the
Board's approval of the use of the Robertson's stage on Dyngus
Day, April 12, 1982, for brief program. She advised that funds
had been set aside for a band performance during the noon hour.
Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried,
the request was approved.
APPROVE TEMPORARY MOBILE OFFICES (PENNY SAVER AND MEDOW LEASING
Mr. Leszczynski stated that two requests for the use of temporary
mobile offices had been submitted for Board approval. He noted
that the Penny Saver Weekly Newspaper, 2102 South Michigan
Street, was requesting the use of a 12' x 60' mobile office
next to the existing building while repair work was being done
to the existing structure. It was anticipated that the remodel-
ing project would take six to nine months to complete. Mr.
Leszczynski stated that electric heat and air conditioning would
be provided within the mobile office.
Mr. Ronn Medow, Medow Leasing Company, was requesting an
extension for continued use of his temporary office on the lot
at 221 West LaSalle to September 30, 1982, because of the economy
and his not being able to spend the money needed to make the
building a permanent structure including underground wiring.
It was noted that the Board had approved the original request
last year commencing August 1, 1981, through April 15, 1982.
Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting
had no objections to the above temporary offices, and a review
of the requests had also been conducted by the Building Department.
Although not objecting to the extension for Medow Leasing Company,
Mr. James Markle, Building Commissioner, questioned the difficulty
of enforcing the building code if the mobile office was allowed
to remain for an additional period. After due consideration,
upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan
and carried, the request of the Penny Saver for a temporary
mobile office through December, 1982, and the extension of the
mobile office building at Medow Leasing through September 30,
1982, were approved and referred to the Building Department for
the issuance of the appropriate permits.
East, for permission to conduct its annual Poppy Day sales on
the city sidewalks on Friday and Saturday, May 28 and 29, 1982.
Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill
and carried, the request was approved.
