SPECIAL MEETING FEBRUARY 10, 1982 <br />been ordered towed to the Hurwich Iron impoundment lot. It was <br />noted that all vehicles have been stored for the required period <br />of time, identification checks have been run for auto theft, and <br />the owners and lien holders have been notified. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by.Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />request to advertise for bids was approved, with sealed bids <br />to be received on February 22, 1982. <br />APPROVE SUPERWALK FOR MARCH OF DIMES <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, recommended the Board approve the March of Dimes 12th <br />Annual Superwalk to be held on April 24, 1982, starting and ending <br />in Potowatomi Park. Mr. Wadzinski recommended that all participants <br />obey pedestrian traffic and safety laws and utilize the sidewalks <br />when possible. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVE MICHIANA LUNG RUN <br />In response to the request of the American Lung Association to <br />hold its annual Michiana Lung Run on June 5, 1982, the Bureau <br />(� of Traffic and Lighting recommended the following: <br />1. Because of the impending closure of Colfax Bridge <br />for repairs, the start and finish of the race must <br />be relocated to another point in the downtown area <br />or Pinhook Park rather than utilizing Jefferson <br />Boulevard Bridge. To make up for the distance <br />lost using Jefferson Boulevard/Howard Park, portions <br />of Riverside Drive and Boland Drive north of <br />Pinhook Park will be used. <br />2. No runners will be permitted to utilize St. <br />Joseph Street but will be able to use old <br />Michigan Street and the River Bend Plaza area. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above recommendations were approved, and the Michiana <br />Lung Run Committee was requested to submit a final route to the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting within 30 days in accordance with <br />the recommendations just approved. <br />APPROVE ROAD RACE FOR ST. ADALBERT'S CHURCH <br />A favorable recommendation was submitted to the Board by the <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the annual road race for St. <br />Adalbert's Church to be held on Sunday, July 18, 1982, starting <br />at 6:00 p.m., in accordance with the route requested. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the recommendation was approved. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 5, 1982, AUTHORIZING ADVERTISING <br />FOR BIDS ON LEASE OF BROWNFIELD PARK <br />RESOLUTION NO. 5, 1982 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works, at its meeting on <br />August 24, 1981, adopted Resolution No. 17, 1981, determ- <br />ining that a parcel of city -owned real estate located <br />at the northwest corner of Angela Boulevard and Riverside <br />Drive, more commonly known as a portion of Brownfield <br />Park, was not necessary to the public use, nor was it <br />set aside by state or city law for public purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, on August 31,1981, the Common Council approved <br />and ratified the action of the Board of Public Works, <br />arrangements were completed for an appraisal of the <br />property, and a bid date was established for the <br />receipt of sealed bids for its purchase. <br />WHEREAS, Lock Joint Tube Company, Inc. submitted a <br />
