200 <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 10, 1982 <br />A Special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:35 a.m., on Wednesday, February 10, 1982, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski and Mr. Richard L. Hill present. <br />Also present was Assistant City Attorney Carolyn Pfotenhauer. <br />SIGN TITLE SHEET AND APPROVE ADVERTISING FOR BIDS - <br />ETHANOL PLANT SITE DE -MUCKING <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that a title sheet for the de -mucking of <br />the Ethanol Plant site was being submitted for Board approval. <br />Mr. Hill explained that the de -mucking project would be handled <br />by the Board of Works on behalf of the Redevelopment Commission <br />as had been done on other redevelopment projects such as the <br />First Bank Center Project. Mr. Leszczynski introduced Mr. Gary <br />Reeder and Mr. Herman Bean from Cole Associates, consultants on <br />the project. Mr. Reeder explained that the project would consist <br />of the removal of 212,461 cubic square yards and the hauling in <br />and compaction of 182,600 cubic square yards of fill, for an <br />estimated cost of $1.8 million. Mr. Hill stated that the city <br />would be indemnified by New Energy Corporation for any expenses <br />incurred on the project should the loan guarantee not be approved. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the title sheet was approved and signed, and the request <br />to advertise for bids was approved, with a bid date set for March <br />1, 1982. <br />OPENING AND AWARD OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />February 8, 1982, was the date set for receiving sealed bids for <br />the sale of 10 abandoned vehicles, 9 of which are valued at over <br />$100. Due to the cancellation of the regular Board meeting of <br />that date because of lack of a quorum, Mr. Leszczynski advised <br />that the bids received prior to 9:30 a.m., on February 8th <br />would be opened and awarded at this time. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. Leland <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />No. 7 $75.00 <br />Upon a motion.made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the high bids of Hurwich Iron Company for Vehicle Nos. <br />1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10; and Leonard Weingarten for Vehicle <br />Nos. 2 and 4 were awarded. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the bids of Metal Resources and Kowalski Brothers Auto <br />Parts were rejected because they were received past the legally <br />advertised 9:30 a.m. deadline of February 8, 1982, and the Clerk <br />was instructed to so inform the bidders and return their unopened <br />bids. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Mrs. Kathy Barnard, Director of the Neighborhood Code Enforcement <br />Office, requested permission to cause legal advertising for the <br />sale of 17 abandoned vehicles, all valued at over $100, which have <br />n <br />iJ <br />
