Upon <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, a <br />established for the property, and <br />so notify Mr. and Mrs. Lanphear. <br />ACCEPT PROPOSAL FOR PURCHASE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY <br />(424 EAST SOUTH STREET) <br />Mr. Leszczynski informed the Board that, on December 21, 1981, a <br />bid in the amount of $500.00 had been received from Mr. Greg <br />Burnside, 50912 U.S. 31 North, for the purchase of a city -owned <br />lot located at 424 East South Street. It was noted that the <br />city's offering price was $661.00 as appraised. According to <br />the state statutes, since no bids had been received in the <br />amount of the appraisal price, the sole abutting property owner, <br />being Mr. Edward J. Mirtes, 418 East South Street, was notified <br />of the city's interest in selling the lot and,was advised to <br />submit a proposal for the property if interested. The Clerk <br />advised that Mr. Mirtes had not submitted a proposal within a <br />10-day period. In view of the fact that no abutting property <br />owner had submitted a proposal for the property, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried, the <br />bid of Mr. Burnside (received on December 21, 1981) in the <br />amount of $500.00 was accepted, and the matter referred to <br />the Legal Department for the drafting of the necessary purchase <br />agreement for Board execution. <br />APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, submitted the following traffic control devices and <br />recommended approval: <br />REMOVE BUS ZONE SIGN AND NO PARKING PASSENGER LOADING <br />ZONE - 900 W. Dubail. <br />REVISE TO 2 HOUR PARKING 6 AM - 6 PM - <br />3603-3612 Mishawaka Avenue. <br />REMOVE NO PARKING PASSENGER LOADING ZONE - <br />1600 S. Kemble Street. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above traffic control devices were approved. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATIONS <br />Mr. Kernan advised that, in accordance with the newly enacted <br />ordinance passed by the Common Council, certain license applica- <br />tions would be submitted to the Board of Works for approval. The <br />following applications were submitted: <br />Secondhand Dealer: Frank Anastasio <br />1906 Miami Street <br />Joan W. Beatty <br />d/b/a Benner's White Elephant Shop <br />2216 Mishawaka Ave. <br />It was noted that favorable recommendations for the above license <br />applications had been received from the Police Department. Like- <br />wise, zoning for the businesses was in accordance with the city's <br />zoning laws and adequate off-street parking was available. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and <br />carried, the above license applications were approved, subject <br />to the recommendations of the Fire Department. <br />
