179 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 18, 1982 <br />FILING OF ASSESSMENT ROLL NO. 2990 - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION <br />NO. 3514. 1982 (PRAIRIE AVENUE SANITARY SEWER PROJECT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski submitted the final assessment roll for the <br />Barrett Law Project involving the construction of sanitary <br />sewers on Prairie Avenue. He noted that the final cost of the <br />project was $58,130.00 of which the city would pay $46,534.33. <br />He stated that the preliminary assessment roll filed on September <br />14, 1981, showed an estimated total cost of the project of <br />$23,191.34, with the estimated cost assessed to the city of <br />$11,595.68. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the assessment roll was filed and set <br />for public hearing on February 1, 1982. <br />APPROVE LEASE AGREEMENTS FOR AUTOMOBILES (CONTROLLER & ATTORNEY <br />Mr. Kernan explained that approval was necessary on the renewal <br />of a lease agreement with First Source Bank Auto Lease for the <br />lease of a 1981 Buick Skylark at a cost of $212.76 per month, and <br />the lease of a 1980 Buick Skylark at a cost of $143.17 per month <br />for the attorney and controller respectively. He pointed out <br />that the monthly payments for lease of the automobiles have <br />(� been reduced over 1981 payments. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the lease agreements <br />were approved. <br />APPROVE INTENDED USE HEARING - REVENUE SHARING FUNDS <br />Chief Deputy Controller Sherrie L. Petz requested the Board to <br />conduct a public hearing on the proposed intended use of revenue <br />sharing funds in the amount of $25,000 for the operation of the <br />Howard Park Senior Citizen Center. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request <br />was approved, and the intended use hearing was set.for February <br />1, 1982. <br />ACCEPT DONATION OF SCULPTURE IN FRONT OF MORRIS CIVIC <br />AUDITORIUM - SOUTH BEND SYMPHONY <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the South Bend Symphony was desirous <br />in donating to the City of South Bend an eleven -foot bronze <br />sculpture entitled "Violin Woman", to be placed in the center <br />of the large fountain outside the Morris Civic Auditorium, in <br />order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the symphony. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, the sculpture to be created by sculptor Harold <br />Langland was accepted and permission was granted for its <br />installation in the fountain in front of the auditorium. As <br />requested by the Symphony, should the sculpture ever be relocated <br />for any reason in the future, approval will be secured from the <br />Symphony's Board of Directors concerning the new location and site. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - BENDIX DRIVE TRAFFIC SIGNALS <br />Mr. Leszczynski requested permission from -the Board to advertise <br />for the receipt of sealed bids for the installation of traffic <br />signals on Bendix Drive in the newly -widened area where the <br />South Shore railroad tracks were removed. He estimated the cost <br />of the project to be $214,000. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was <br />approved. <br />APPROVE ROAD RUN FOR "WINTER CELEBRATION" - ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL <br />Ms. Mikki Dobski, Events Coordinator for the Park Department, <br />requested permission from the Board to conduct a road run on <br />Sunday, February 7, 1982, starting at 8:30 a.m., sponsored by <br />the St. Joseph's Hospital Sports Medicine Program. It was noted <br />that the proposed route was basically the same route used in the <br />
