South Bend, Ind. <br />Dodge Swinger, blue <br />$45.75 -- <br />Dodge Tradesman Van <br />45.75 --. <br />Olds Tornado, red <br />50.75 -- <br />Chevy Impala, brown <br />50.75 -- <br />Buick Electra, tan <br />50.75 -- <br />Chevy Impala, gold <br />50.75 -- <br />Ford Comet, 2 dr. <br />50.75 -- <br />Chevy, blue <br />50.75 -- <br />Chrysler, white/blue <br />50.75 -- <br />Olds Delta 88 <br />50.75 $81.00 <br />Pontiac, blue <br />50.75 -- <br />Mercury, blue <br />50.75 -- <br />Cadillac Coupe Deville <br />50.75 -- <br />Chevy El Camino, black <br />50.75 -- <br />Chevy Van, green <br />25.75 -- <br />Olds 88, white <br />28.75 -- <br />Chevy Vega, red <br />25.75 -- <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the high bid of A-1 Auto Parts in the amount of $81.00 for the <br />Oldsmobile Delta 88 was awarded, and all remaining vehicles totalling <br />$730.00 were awarded to Hurwich Iron. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - APPLICATIONS FOR CERTIFICATES OF <br />PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY <br />This was the date set for holding a public hearing on the applica- <br />tions for Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity which <br />were received by the Board on behalf of Grady Thompson, d/b/a <br />Independent Cab Company, and Roseland Cab Company. Mr. Leszczynski <br />noted that, in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal <br />Code, a notice of public hearing was published in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri-County News and the two current holders of <br />such certificates, being Yellow Cab and Courtesy Cab, were mailed <br />notice of said hearing. Mrs. Grady Thompson was present and stated <br />that she was representing her husband in the matter of his applica- <br />tion. Mr. Walter Jones was present, representing Roseland Cab <br />Company. Mrs. Carolyn Pfotenhauer, Deputy City Attorney, advised <br />the Board that, in accordance with the Municipal Code, it is <br />necessary that any operator of a cab upon the city streets must <br />file with the Board a Certificate of Public Convenience and <br />Necessity, which certificate must be approved by the Board if a <br />determination is made that additional cab service is needed in <br />the city, and whether or not the applicant is able to perform <br />according to the requirements of the Code. She explained that <br />a public hearing is scheduled on the application and all other <br />holders of the license are notified. She advised that the applicant <br />must have a current policy of insurance in an amount of not less <br />than $50,000.00 for injury to or destruction of property as a <br />result of any one occurrence, and a public liability policy <br />covering accidental bodily injury in an amount of not less than <br />$100,000.00 for all public liability from any one occurrence. <br />She stated that an initial fee of $500.00 is required and a <br />charge of $35.00 per vehicle is also required. <br />Mr. Kevin Butler, Attorney at Law practicing in the St. Joseph <br />Bank Building, stated that he was representing Yellow Cab Company. <br />He inquired as to the applications received and whether or not <br />they were reviewed and were complete and whether the fee had been <br />submitted. Mr. Hill stated that the applications appeared to be <br />complete; however, no payment for fees had been submitted. Mrs. <br />Pfotenhauer explained that the fee was not required until the <br />application was approved by the Board. Mr. Butler advised that <br />Yellow Cab Company has been issued a Certificate of Public <br />Convenience and Necessity and operates under said certificate. <br />He stated that Yellow Cab operated with 45 vehicles, all of <br />1 <br />
