<br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 - MORSE ELECTIRC
<br />(INTERSECTION SIGNALIZATION PROJECT)
<br />OCTOBER 19. 1981.
<br />Mr. Leszczynski stated that Morse Electric had submitted Change
<br />Order No. 1 to its contract for intersection signalization in the
<br />amount of an increase of $3,318.07 for miscellaneous items and in
<br />order to adjust final quantities to as built amounts. Upon a
<br />motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski and carried,
<br />the above change order was approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE TO RECEIVE BIDS — PHOTOSTATIC
<br />COPIER/DUPLICATOR (POLICE DEPARTMENT)
<br />Police Chief Dan Thompson, in a letter to the Board, requested
<br />permission to advertise to receive bids for the purchase of a
<br />photostatic copier/duplicator for the department. Upon a motion
<br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the
<br />request was approved and the date of November 2, 1981, set for
<br />receiving and opening sealed bids for the equipment.
<br />FILING OF PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT ROLL AND PLANS AND ADOPTION OF
<br />IMPROVEMENT RES. #3516, 1981 (BARRETT LAW SANITARY SEWER - WABASH ST.)
<br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that, in response to a petition submitted
<br />for the installation of sanitary sewers in Wabash Street from Ewing
<br />Avenue to Calvert Street, which petition was filed on October 12,
<br />1981, the Engineering Department had prepared a preliminary assess-
<br />ment roll, plans and engineer's estimate for the project. It was
<br />estimated that the total cost of the project would be $54,959.65,
<br />if approved, with an amount of $27,479.68 assessed to the city.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the above documents were filed and the following Improve-
<br />ment Resolution No. 3516, 1981, was adopted and set for public
<br />hearing on November 2, 1981:
<br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3516, 1981
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works of the city
<br />of South Bend, Indiana, that it is deemed necessary to improve
<br />Wabash Street from Ewing Avenue to Calvert Street (Local
<br />Sanitary Sewer) by the construction of a local sewer, intended
<br />and adapted only for local use by the property owners whose
<br />property abuts thereon and not intended or adapted for
<br />receiving sewage from collateral drains. Said sewer to be
<br />8" and 10" in diameter, and said sewer, with all its
<br />appurtenances, to be constructed in accordance with the
<br />profiles, drawings, plans, general details and specifications
<br />of such improvement approved and adopted herewith, and placed
<br />on file in the office of the Board of Public Works of said
<br />City, and such improvement is now ordered.
<br />The total cost of said improvement, including all incidental
<br />costs, such as advertising, abstracting, inspection and engineering
<br />shall be assessed upon said real estate abutting on said street
<br />in accordance with applicable statutes. The said improvement
<br />is to be financed and paid for as provided in Chapter 40, of
<br />the Acts of 1953, as amended (1971 I.C. 18-6-3). Assessments,
<br />if deferred, are to be paid in equal installments, with
<br />interest at the rate of eight (8%) per annum.
<br />The 2nd day of November, 1981, at the hour of 9:30 a.m.
<br />o`clock, local time, is hereby fixed as the time and the
<br />Board of Public Works Hearing Room, 1308 County -City Building,
<br />as the place when and where the Board will hear all persons
<br />interested, or whose property is or will be affected by the
<br />proposed improvement, on the question as to whether the special
<br />benefits that will accrue to the property to be assessed,
<br />abutting on the line of proposed sewer or drain, will be equal
