91 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 12, 1981 <br />APPROVAL OF ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION <br />NO. 3512, 1981 (LUDWICK GRAPHICS) <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the Assessment Roll <br />with respect to Vacation Resolution No. 3512, 1981, for the <br />vacation of the first alley southwest of LaPorte Avenue running <br />northwesterly from Sancome Avenue; thence southwesterly to <br />Wilber Street, all being in Davis Plat to the City of South Bend. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be <br />sufficient. The Assessment Roll lists $0.00 net benefits and <br />$0.00 net damages to the abutting properties. No remonstrances <br />were filed with the Board and no one was present to object to <br />the vacation. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the Assessment Poll was approved and <br />said resolution is in all things ratified and confirmed and <br />said proceedings closed. <br />CD APPROVE INTENDED USE OF REVENUE SHARING FUNDS <br />r**' This was the date set for holding a public hearing on the proposed <br />I' use of revenue sharing funds in the amount of $1,085.00 during <br />CD the calendar year 1981. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication <br />< of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which <br />were found to be sufficient. Mr. Leszczynski noted that this <br />was the public hearing on the proposed use of revenue sharing <br />funds as follows: <br />$1,050,000.00 For salaries and fringe benefits as a <br />result of increases negotiated last year <br />35,000.00 For repair of Island Park to be used in <br />conjunction with other funds <br />In accordance with guidelines adopted for such use of revenue <br />sharing funds, information about this public hearing was forwarded <br />to the following senior citizen groups with the request that the <br />notice be posted: Foster Grandparents, Hansel Neighborhood Center, <br />REAL Services, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Senior Citizens <br />Group of LaSalle Park, Harvest House Centers and Howard Park <br />Senior Citizens' Center. There was no one present to speak <br />against the proposed expenditure. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the public <br />hearing was closed and the Clerk was instructed to forward the <br />minutes of this public hearing to the Controller's Office and <br />the City Clerk. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 20, 1981 (COLFAX BRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 20, 1981 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has found it necessary in <br />the best interest of the public safety and welfare <br />to construct certain improvements to the Colfax <br />Bridge over the St. Joseph River, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has the authority to make <br />such improvements as provided by Acts of the General <br />Assembly, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED: <br />1. That the Board of Public Works orders the <br />Department of Public Works to prepare plans, <br />specifications, cost estimates, secure the <br />necessary right-of-way and easements, by <br />the doing of all acts necessary and desirable <br />to the acquisition by gift, purchase or <br />condemnation. <br />2. Secure permits, appropriations, and to <br />construct certain street improvements to <br />
