<br />and Brown Contractors in the amount of $125,000.00 would be paid
<br />for. He advised that the release provides acknowledgement of the
<br />amount of the repairs and that the actual cost of the repairs was
<br />estimated to be under the $125,000.00 figure. In accordance with
<br />the agreement, Murphy/Jahn would contribute the sum of $50,000.00
<br />towards the repair work, with the insurance company, Shand, Morahan
<br />& Company, on behalf of the Potomac Insurance Company, paying for
<br />the balance. Mr. Hill stated that, in accordance with the
<br />concrete work already done, it was felt the total cost for the
<br />repairs would not exceed $80,000.00. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the Release and
<br />Settlement Agreement was approved.
<br />APPROVE ADVERTISING TO RECEIVE BIDS - POLICE SUBSTATION PARKING LOTS
<br />Mr. Neil Shanahan, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction,
<br />requested permission to cause legal advertising for the receipt
<br />of sealed bids for the construction of parking lots at two of the
<br />three police substations, being at the rear of Fire Station No. 4
<br />on Olive Street and at the city -owned facility at 420 North Francis
<br />Street. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr.
<br />Hill and carried, the request was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF PARADE - FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
<br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the
<br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, recommended approval of the request
<br />of the First United Methodist Church for a parade to be held on
<br />Sunday, November 1, 1981, starting at 1:00 p.m. from the church
<br />at 333 North Main Street and proceeding to Century Center via Main
<br />Street to Jefferson Boulevard. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski,
<br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF 10K SPORTS MED RUN - ST. JOSEPH'S MEDICAL CENTER
<br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and
<br />Lighting, recommended approval of the request of St. Joseph's
<br />Medical Center to conduct a 10K Sports Med Run on Sunday, October
<br />18, 1981, starting at 1:00 p.m., via the following route:
<br />Starting at the Century Center parking lot, east
<br />on Jefferson to St. Louis/Northside Boulevard,
<br />Clover Street, Hildreth, Greenlawn, Potawatomi
<br />Park, and return via same route to the Howard
<br />Park foot bridge over the river and to the
<br />River Glen Plaza office park area.
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVE REQUEST TO COLLECT DONATIONS AT HOLIDAY PARADE - SALVATION ARMY
<br />A request was received from Captain Craig Stoker of the Salvation
<br />Army for permission to conduct a solicitation along the parade
<br />route of the Holiday Festival Parade to be held on Saturday,
<br />November 21, 1981. In his letter to the Board, Captain Stoker
<br />indicated that a small band and a timbrel corps would perform
<br />along the route. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded
<br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and
<br />carried, the following traffic control devices as recommended
<br />by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting were approved:
<br />INSTALL STOP SIGN - On Laurel at Washington, S.E. corner.
<br />REMOVE 30 MINUTE PARKING 6AM - 6PM - 1914-1916 Lincolnway West.
<br />INSTALL 1 HOUR PARKING IN THIS HALF BLOCK MONDAYS 8AM - 9PM
<br />TUESDAY THRU SATURDAY 8AM - 6PM - East side of Rasmussen
<br />Court from Jefferson north to parking lot.
