5'7 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 14, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m., on Monday, September 14, 1981, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and Mr. <br />Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Deputy City Attorney <br />James A. Masters. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Kernan, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the minutes of the August 31, 1981, regular meeting of the Board <br />were approved as submitted. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, execution of a lease for a police sub -station on South <br />Main Street and delegation of emergency powers concerning a <br />blocked sewer on Sample Street were added to the agenda following <br />the request to advertise for bids for Street Department equipment. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - REROOFING OF FIRE STATIONS NO. 7 AND 10 <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening sealed bids for <br />the reroofing of Fire Stations No. 7 and 10. The Clerk tendered <br />proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The <br />following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />City Roofing, Inc. <br />2300 Sterling Avenue <br />Elkhart, Indiana <br />Fire Station No. 7 <br />Fire Station No. 10 <br />Solar Vents on Station <br />Total Bid <br />Midland Engineering <br />52369 U. S. 31 North <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Bid was signed by Larry C. Reiff, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />$25,684.00 <br />14,694.00 <br />No. 10 219.72 <br />$40,597.72 <br />Co. Bid was signed by J. C. Steinmetz, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Fire Station No. 7 <br />Fire Station No. 10 <br />Total Bid <br />$20,155.00 (Alternate) <br />14,625.00 (Alternate) <br />$34,780.00 <br />It was noted that no alternates were asked for in the specifications. <br />Ms. Steinmetz from Midland Engineering indicated that she did not <br />feel the work as specified could be done and she was, therefore, <br />submitting a bid for the reroofing as she recommended it. <br />All Weather Exteriors, Inc. <br />59661 Bremen Highway <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Fire Station No. 7 <br />Fire Station No. 10 <br />Solar Vents on St. No. 10 <br />Total Bid <br />Bid was signed by Alan W.
