Byers, Clerk <br />The reports of the Area Plan Commission, Community Development <br />Department and Engineering Department indicated that there were <br />no objections to the proposed vacation. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the reports were <br />filed and Vacation Resolution No. 3513, 1981, was adopted and set <br />for public hearing on September 14, 1981. <br />PETITION FOR RESTRICTED RESIDENTIAL PARKING (100 BLOCK N. NOTRE DAME <br />A petition signed by 19 residents in the 100 block of North Notre <br />Dame Avenue for restricted residential parking was submitted. It <br />was noted that the petition was being submitted because of the non- <br />resident parking on the street caused as a result of the dental <br />clinic which fronted on Colfax Avenue. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the petition was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for preliminary <br />review and recommendation. <br />APPROVAL OF TENT SALE - J.E. WALZ, INC. <br />A request had been received from James Walz of the J. E. Walz <br />Furniture Store, 3423 South Michigan Street, for permission to <br />hold its annual tent sale on its parking lot at the rear of the <br />store beginning August 25, 1981, through September 30, 1981. It <br />was noted that the Building Department had no objection to the <br />erection of the tent. Assistant Fire Chief George Gyori, Fire <br />Inspection Bureau, recommended approval of the request subject to <br />compliance with all necessary fire and safety regulations. The <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting likewise had no objection to the <br />tent sale provided that the placement of any signs or flashers <br />do not block driver visibility at exiting drives nor "blind" <br />motorists on Main and Michigan Streets. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the tent sale <br />was approved subject to the above recommendations. <br />APPROVAL OF BLOCK PARTIES <br />Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Light- <br />ing, recommended approval of the following block party requests, <br />subject to maintaining a 12-foot clear and unobstructed lane at <br />either curb or down the center of the street for emergency vehicle <br />access: <br />August 29, 1981 - Oxford Lane from Manchester to Ebeling <br />11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. <br />September 5, 1981 - Sunnymede between Eddy and Sunnyside <br />12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above block party requests were approved subject to <br />the maintenance of the 12-foot lane for emergency vehicles. <br />1 <br />
