20 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 27, 1981 <br />Mr. Leszczynski noted that the above bids were submitted for Alternate <br />A of the project. Following a review of the above bids, Mr. Leszczynski <br />made a motion that the low bid of Rieth-Riley Construction Company be <br />awarded in the amount of $273,722.90, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - CONCRETE ALLEY CONSTRUCTION <br />(HARTER HEIGHTS 2ND ADDITION) <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening bids for concrete <br />construction of an alley in Harter Heights 2nd Addition bounded by <br />Angela, St. Joseph, Pokagon and Foster Streets, approximately 270 <br />feet in length and 12 feet in width, in accordance with Barrett Law <br />procedure. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to <br />be sufficient. Box 1775 <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />$ 9,485.00 <br />McIntyre & Jones Construction <br />2526 West 6th Street <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />$ 7,660.80 <br />LaPorte Construction Co. <br />P. 0. Box 577 <br />LaPorte, Indiana <br />$10,161.80 <br />Arco Engineering <br />705 S. Beiger <br />Mishawaka, Indiana <br />$ 9,977.00 <br />Bid was signed by Paul Hundt, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a cashier's check in <br />the amount of $438.75 was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Richard D. Ruhlman, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by Kenneth A. <br />McIntyre, non -collusion affidavit <br />was in order, and a 5% bid bond <br />was submitted. <br />Bid was signed by A.D. Blackburn, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Bid was signed by William Zirkle, <br />non -collusion affidavit was in <br />order, and a 5% bid bond was <br />submitted. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering Department <br />for review and recommendation. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3510, 1981 - CONFIRMED (LOUIE'S TUX SHOP) <br />The public hearing on the vacation of the first alley south of <br />Lincolnway West, running westerly from Chapin to Cushing Street, was <br />continued to this meeting of the Board in order to give the Board <br />members an opportunity to view the alley and talk with affected <br />property owners, since it appeared there was objection to the alley <br />vacation at the Board meeting on July 13, 1981. Mr. Leszczynski <br />advised that the Board members had inspected the alley in question, <br />and he asked if there were any additional comments to be made on the <br />proposed vacation.
