i <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 3. 1983 <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT INTERSECTION. SOLICITATION - <br />MISHAWAKA. EVENING EXCHANGE CLUB REFERRED <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Alan Butt, Vice President of <br />the Mishawaka Evening Exchange Club, 2626 Prescott Drive, <br />Mishawaka, Indiana, requested permission to solicit funds/ <br />donations at three South Bend locations on Saturday, October <br />22, 1983. The following three locations were proposed: <br />1. Marion & Michigan <br />2. Edison & Ironwood <br />3. Angela & Michigan <br />Mr. Butt indicated that they plan to have approximately three <br />members soliciting at each site from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. <br />The Mishawaka Evening Exchange Club is soliciting donations <br />specifically earmarked for the Crime Stoppers Program and the <br />Club has received.authorization from the Board of Directors <br />of Crime Stoppers to use its name in their solicitations. <br />All solicitors will be members of the Exchange Club. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above matter was referred to the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, the Police Department Traffic Division <br />and the City Attorney's Office for review and recommendation. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the following license application <br />has been received: <br />ROSE'S <br />By: Rose Marie Mitchell <br />1214 North Meade Street <br />Stand to be located at: 322 W. Sample <br />Dates: 10/1/83 to 12/31/83 <br />Mr. Leszczynski further advised that favorable recommendations <br />have been received from the Police Department, Department of <br />Code Enforcement and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for <br />the above application. Additionally provided with the applica- <br />tion was a letter of permission from the property owner. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above license application was approved and referred <br />to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - SECONDHAND DEALER <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that a license application was received <br />from Mr. Steven P. Romanski, 56798 Joseph Lane to operate <br />Changing Hands Consignment Shop at 2630 Western Avenue for the <br />purpose of selling clothing, appliances, furniture and mis- <br />cellaneous items. He further advised that favorable reports <br />have been received from the.Police Department, Fire Department, <br />Department of Code Enforcement and the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the above license application was <br />approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's office <br />for issuance. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO SET PUBLIC HEARING ON CERTIFICATE <br />OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY APPLICATIONS <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Sherrie L. Petz, Deputy <br />Controller, presented three applications for Certificates <br />of Public Convenience and Necessity for businesses which <br />fall under the definition of taxicabs.
