3 4 1. <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST'22, 1983 <br />The regular,meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, August.22, 1983, by President John <br />E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill <br />and Mr. Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Chief <br />Deputy City Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the minutes of the August 15, 1983, regular meeting <br />of the Board were approved. <br />AGENDA ITEMS ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, Contractor and Homeowner Agreements for the <br />Bureau of ,Housing Neighborhood Paint -Up Program and Fees for <br />Storage and Towing of Abandoned Vehicles were added to the <br />agenda. <br />PUBLIC HEARING AND RECOMMENDATION- ALLEY VACATION <br />1ST N/S ALLEY W. OF EDDY STREET FROM NAPOLEON BLVD. <br />SO. TO THE 1ST E/W ALLEY SO. OF NAPOLEON BLVD. '' <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the <br />Board's public hearing on the proposed vacation of the lst <br />north/south alley west of Eddy Street running South from, <br />Napoleon Blvd. 212 feet plus or minus -to that portion of <br />north/south alley vacated by Resolution No. 2476, all being <br />in Sorin's 2nd Addition to the town of Lowell in South Bend, <br />Indiana. This public hearing is being held in order for the <br />Board to submit a recommendation totheCommon Council con- <br />cerning the Petition filed by Mr. J. Robert Wegs, 1024 East <br />Napoleon and Mrs. Jean T. Oesterle of 1127 North Eddy Street, <br />South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that affected property <br />owners within 200 feet of the proposed alley vacation had <br />been duly notified of the Board's public hearing date. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak for or against <br />the proposed vacation, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the public hearing on this <br />matter was closed. <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that comments on this proposed vacation <br />have been received from the Engineering Department, Community <br />Development and the Area Plan Commission. Based on those <br />comments, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the Clerk was instructed to forward a <br />favorable recommendation to the Common Council for vacation <br />of the above mentioned alley, subject to any and all utility <br />easements. <br />OPENING OF BIDS MANHOLE RESTORATION PROJECT _(SOUTH MAIN ST'. <br />This was the.date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The <br />following bids were opened and publicly read; <br />T. GEORGE PODELL AND CO. Bid was signed by T. George <br />1400 South Main Street Podell, President,. Non -Collusion <br />South Bend, Indiana Affidavit was in order and a <br />Cashiers Check in the amount of <br />$3,000.00 was submitted <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $35)810.00 <br />
