325 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 1. 1983 <br />Department must be secured in order to erect a tent. <br />Additionally, required is a Certificate of Insurance <br />in the amount of $1,000,000-naming the City of South <br />Bend as an additional insured for the duration of the <br />tent sale. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded <br />by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE BLOCK PARTY REQUESTS <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager,. <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the following <br />block partyrequests and recommends approval subject to the <br />maintenance of a clear and unobstructed lane for emergency <br />purposes. It was noted that the petitioner is responsible <br />for the closing and opening of the streets with barricades <br />to be provided by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the following block party requests were approved: <br />1. 700 block East WoodsideStreetbetween High <br />Street and Erskine Street <br />August 20, 1983, 12:00 noon to 12 midnight <br />Petitioner: Thomas E. Heffernan, III, 728 E. Woodside <br />2. 500 block Woodside St. between Fellows and Erskine <br />August 6, 1983 - 4:00 p.m. to midnight <br />Petitioner: Sally J. Sorberg, Block Chairman <br />APPROVE REQUEST OF AMERICAN CANCER•SOCIETY FOR ANNUAL <br />COMMUNITY COLLECTION (AUGUST 13, 1983) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Mr. Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager, <br />Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, has reviewed the request of <br />the American Cancer Society for their annual community <br />collection to be held on August 13, 1983. The request was <br />presented to the Board on July 18, 1983. Mr. Wadzinski <br />recommends approval subject to.a meeting being arranged <br />with Ms. Susan Van Fleit, Coordinator of the Indiana <br />Division, Inc. of the American Cancer Society, Captain <br />Thomas'Gargis of the South Bend Police Department Traffic <br />Division and Mr. Ralph Wadzinski concerning the intersections <br />to be utilized. Additionally, the American Cancer Society <br />will be required to file a Hold Harmless Agreement with the <br />Board. Upon a motion made by Mr..Leszczynski, seconded by <br />Mr. Hill and carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />Mr. David A. Wells, P.E., Engineering Department, recommended <br />the Board approve the Contractor's Bond of Village Contractors, <br />Inc., retroactive to July 29, 1983 Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />above Contractor's Bond was approved. <br />APPROVE RELEASE OF CONTRACTOR'S BOND <br />Mr. Ray S. Andrysiak, P.E., Engineering Department, recommended <br />the Board release the Contractor's Bond of Rafael Sanchez <br />effective August 1, 1983. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above <br />Contractor's Bond was released. <br />APPROVE HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMIT <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the following handicapped parking permit was <br />approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office <br />for issuance: <br />John & Bettie 5urpas, 27175 St. Rd. 23, N.
