REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 1, 1983 <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />PAINT AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AS TO THE TYPE OF PAINT <br />TO BE USED ON DWELLING HOUSES RECEIVING ASSISTANCE <br />UNDER THE BUREAU OF HOUSING PAINT PROGRAMS <br />In a Memorandum to the Board, Ms..Janet S. Holston, Director, <br />Bureau of Housing, requested permission to advertise for <br />receipt of bids for paint and technical assistance as to the <br />the type of paint to be used on dwelling houses receiving <br />assitance under the Bureau of Housing Paint Programs. Upon <br />a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />MANHOLE RESTORATION PROJECT (SOUTH MAIN STREET) <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. David A. Wells, P.E., Manager, <br />Bureau of Design and Administration, indicated that specifica- <br />tions have been prepared for amanhole`restorat_ion project on <br />South Main Street. Twenty-four (24) manholes are proposed <br />for the project. Therefore, he is requesting permission to <br />advertise for receipt of bids for this project. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Katherine Barnard, Director of the Department of Code <br />Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale <br />of approximately thirteen (13) abandoned vehicles, eleven (11) <br />of which are valued at over One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) and <br />all of which were being stored at Hurwich Impoundment Lot, <br />1610 Circle Avenue. It was noted that all vehicles have been <br />stored more than the required thirty (3.0) days, identification <br />checks had been run for auto theft, and the owners and lien - <br />holders notified. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the request was approved <br />and a date of -August 15, 1983, was established for the receipt <br />of sealed bids. <br />APPROVE RECOMMENDATION TO DENY TAXI DRIVER'S LICENSE <br />Mr. Kernan submitted his recommendation.for denial of the taxi <br />driver's license application of Mr. Earl Bradford, 3202 Corby, <br />South Bend, Indiana, based on the results of a Police Depart- <br />ment investigation of .the applicant. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, Mr. Kernan's <br />recommendation to.den.y the license was approved. Mr. Bradford <br />will be notified of the denial and given the opportunity to <br />request a public hearing on the matter. Mr. Kernan abstained <br />from voting on this matter. <br />REQUEST TO CONDUCT BLOCK PARTY - 1100 BLOCK OF NORTH <br />DUEY STREET REFERRED (AUGUST 12, 13 and 14,' 1983) <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. Charles Howell, Sponsor, Ada <br />McCraven's Super Kids.Park, 1100 North Duey Street, South <br />Bend, Indiana, requested permission to have the 1100 block <br />of North Duey Street blocked off on August 12, 13 and 14, 1983. <br />The purpose of this request is for a block party to beheld by <br />the children of McCraven's Super Kids Park. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, <br />the above request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting for review and recommendation. <br />1 <br />
