REGULAR MEETING MAY 23, 1983 <br />223 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened <br />at 9:35 a.m. on Monday,. May 23, 1983, by President John E. <br />Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mr. Richard L. Hill and <br />Mr. Joseph E. Kernan present. Also present was Assistant <br />City Attorney Carolyn V. Pfotenhauer. <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan <br />and carried, a request for an intended use hearing on the <br />proposed expenditure of Revenue Sharing funds was added to <br />the agenda. <br />ANNOUNCEMENT - NEXT MEETING DATE <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that because City offices are closed <br />in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 30, 1983, the <br />next meeting.of the Board of Public Works will be held on <br />Tuesday, May 31, 1983 at 9:30 a.m. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill <br />and carried, the minutes of the May 16, 1983, regular meeting <br />of the Board were approved. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - MAPLE ROAD INTERSECTION TURN LANES ON S.R. 23 <br />This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids <br />for the above referred to project. The Clerk tendered proofs <br />of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The <br />following bids were opened and publicly read: <br />RITSCHARD BROS., INC. <br />1204 W. Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: <br />Bid was signed by Donald Ritschard, <br />President and Carmelo Ritschard, <br />Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit <br />was in order land a 57, Bid Bond was <br />submitted. <br />$75,188.29 <br />GEYER CONSTRUCTION & DEV. CO. Bid was signed by William A. Geyer, <br />67475 Kenilworth Road Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order <br />Lakeville, Indiana 46536 and a 5% Bid Bond was submitted. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $75,025.75 <br />RIETH-RILEY CONSTRUCTION CO. Bid was signed by R.L. McCormick, <br />P.O. Box 1775 Supt., Non -Collusion Affidavit was <br />South Bend, Indiana in order and a 5% Bid Bond was <br />submitted. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $84,430.41 <br />ZIOLKOWSKI CONSTRUCTION, INC. Bid was signed by Ben Ziolkowski, <br />1005 South Lafayette President and Roberta Ziolkowski, <br />P.O. Box 1106 Secretary, Non -Collusion Affidavit <br />South Bend, Indiana was in order and a 5% Bid Bond <br />was submitted. <br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF BID: $84,149.27 <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the Engineer's Estimate on this <br />Project is $87,600.00. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above bids were referred to the Engineering Depart- <br />ment for review and recommendation. <br />
