REGULAR MEETING MAY 2, 1983 <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO-. 5 - BATES AND ROGERS <br />CONSTRUCTION (COLFAX AVENUE BRIDGE PROJECT) <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that Bates and Rogers Construction <br />Corporation has submitted Change Order No. 5 for the Colfax <br />Bridge Repair Project. The Change Order states that a Credit <br />for Epoxy Resin Adhesive in the amount of $3,227.00 is warranted. <br />This credit to the state is due to an elimination of the epoxy <br />resin adhesive which was to be -applied to the top of the <br />prestressed concrete beams prior to pouring. This item was <br />eliminated by I.D.O.H. Bridge Design Department per request <br />by Mr. Tim Bertram, Field Construction Engineer. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the <br />above Change Order No. 5 was approved. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT <br />Mr. Kevin Horton, Deputy Director, Economic Development Depart- <br />ment, advised the Board that this contract is in the amount of <br />$150,000.00 and is from -..:the Community Development Block Grant <br />Program. The South Bend Development Corporation, through the <br />use of the Commercial Revolving Loan Fund, will make a loan to <br />Goodwill to assist in the rehabilitation project for the <br />development of a commercial plaza (mini shopping center) in <br />the old A&P store on Eddy Street. Additional financing for <br />the project is contingent on this contract being approved. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Leszczynski <br />and carried, the above Community Development contract in the <br />amount of $150.,000.00 was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />INSTALLATION OF AN ACTUATED TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT THE <br />INTERSECTION OF ORANGE STREET AND COLLEGE STREET & <br />FLASHER INSTALLATION AT CORNER OF COLFAX AVENUE AND <br />WALNUT STREET <br />Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, Public Works, in a letter to <br />the Board requested permission to advertise for receipt of <br />sealed bids for the installation of an actuated traffic signal <br />at the intersection of Orange Street and College Street. Also <br />included would be.a flasher installation at the corner of <br />Colfax Avenue and Walnut Street. Mr. Leszczynski indicated <br />that a recent study has indicated a need for the above traffic <br />signals, and that Community Development funds are available <br />for the installation. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW MAPLE ROAD ENTRANCE ONTO S.R. 23 <br />Mr. John E. Leszczynski, Director, Public Works, in a letter to <br />the Board requested permission to advertise for receipt of <br />sealed bids for the construction of the new Maple Road/State <br />Road #23 intersection. Mr. Leszczynski stated that the specifica- <br />tions have been prepared for construction and funds are available <br />to the City through the UDAG grant. Upon a motion made by Mr. <br />Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above request <br />was approved. <br />APPROVE TITLE SHEET - MAPLE ROAD ENTRANCE ONTO S.R. �M <br />Mr. Leszczynski advised that the title sheet for the above <br />referred to project was being presented to the Board for execution. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, the above Title Sheet was approved and signed. <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
