REGULAR MEETING APRIL 18, 1983 APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - BRONSON STREET LANDSCAPING I24PROVEI'IENTS - MONPOE PA F; AREA HUNZIKER' S , INC. (PROJECT NO. 83-12, MONROE PARK PHASE 'III) Mr. Leszczynski advised that, in accordance with the bid awarded . on April .11, 1983, to Hunziker's, Inc., in the amount of $36,937.45 for the above referred to project, a contract was being submitted for Board approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the contract was approvedand the required insurance, Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Payment Bond were filed. APPROVE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CONTRACTS The following Community Development Contracts were presented to the Board for approval: Contract with Voluntary Action Center for Voluntary Action Center Helpline. The targeted goal for the VAC - Helpline Activity is to provide taped message information to " ` 2,000 unemployed people. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $5,500.00. Contract with Legal Services Program of Northern Indiana, Inc. for Legal Services Activity. The targeted goal for the Legal Services Activity is to provide 300 persons with legal counseling or referral services. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $37,500.00. Contract with Near Northwest Neighborhood, Inc. for Neighborhood Participation & Leadership Development Activity. The targeted goals for the Neighborhood Participation and Leadership Development Activity is to publish a manual.describing ways to increase membership participation and leadership development. and to conduct a one-half day seminar on the same topic. The materials and seminar will be available to all city neighborhood organizations. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $4,000.00. Contract with Real Services, Inc. for Older Adult Crime Victim Program Activity. The targeted goal for the Older Adult Crime Victim Program Activity is to counsel 450 victims. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $9,054.00. Contract with CANCO, Inc. for CANCO Neglect Prevention Activity. The targeted goal for the CANCO Neglect Program Activity is to provide crisis intervention counseling to 45 families (approximately 110 individuals) within the Community Development Neighborhood Strategy Areas. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $25,275.00. Contract with Specialized Transportation System of St. Joseph County for Specialized Transportation Service. The targeted goal for Specialized Transportation Service is to provide 2,250 one-way trips to handicapped persons residing within the corporate boundaries of the City of South Bend. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $32,250.00. Contract with Madison Center, Inc./Sex Offense Services for Rape Crisis Counseling Activity. The targeted goal for the Rape Crisis Counseling Program is to counsel 24 victims and provide outreach services for the community. The total cost of this activity shall not exceed $20,625.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczvnski, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, the above Community Development, Contracts were approved.
